Tonight’s local music radio show on WBKM 107.1FM Thursday June 22nd will run from 9-11pm US Eastern time and will go as follows:

Song before: You’ve Got Time – Regina Spektor

intro

From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington. Phish became so huge that a lot of people think of Burlington as a host to many jam bands, which we certainly have plenty, but we also have lots of diverse artists and some even think your song is too long.

1.) Your Song’s Too Long – Mr. Ray Fork
2.) Tell Me No – Clever Girls
3.) Fast – Chin Ho
4.) Terrarium – Vedora

I miss Vedora. What a beautiful song. Chin put a ton of music into our community in the 90’s. Nice rocker from the Girls. Ray Fork, you’ve just got to love him. OK, here is the next song on Camera.

5.) Dead End Street – 1881
6.) Small Town Movie – The Cush
7.) Bloodboy – Barbacoa
8.) Off To Be On – Near North

Cool song by the Vermont band. I should really try and catch up with them soon. Classic cover of the Envy song by Barbacoa. Bill Mullins and Kirk Flanagan from the band will play at Foam Brewers tomorrow as the Idles. Classic song from the Cush. Great song from 1881. This next set of music has a universal theme. It begins with not being able to get by, even though you are in the show.

9.) Soul Piggy Bank – SWALE
10.) I Got A Job – Maryse Smith
11.) Paycheck – Slingshot Dakota
12.) I Need A Raise – Cave Bees
13.) Rejected – Black Rabbit
14.) I Quit – Blotto

With the setup from the first song, I think you can see the flow of the theme from the song titles. Great songs, each and every one of them. OK, let’s keep rocking.

15.) Lion Tamer – Carraway
16.) Parking Lot – Villanelles
17.) Silence Kills – Secret Heliotropes
18.) Just Another Day – The Nancy Druids

I had to play that one because of the lion tamer reference. Cool songs from Heliotropes, Villanelles and Carraway. This next song is just great.

19.) Haze – gneiss
20.) Bury Me – Forest Gray
21.) Harvest Moon – Silver Bridget
22.) Easy Come – Split Tongue Crow

Great song from the Rutland band. Bridget are so wonderful. I caught up with Forest Gray at Radio Bean last Sunday and he put on a delightful show as always. Gneiss are at Martell’s in Jefforsonville tomorrow. OK, time to keep rocking.

23.) Spit N Fire Blues – Joe Adler & The Rangers Of Danger
24.) Showdown At The Blue Moon Hotel – Jerichovox

6.) Shortcuts – 1881
7.) Miranda – Ninja Custodian
8.) Voodoo Camaro – Wide Wail
9.) Windows down – Lendway

It’s the perfect time to drive around with the windows down, perhaps in a magical camero. Classic song from Ninja. 20.) The Mime – Joe Adler
21.) I Am A Hatchet – Phil Yates & The Affiliates

Joe’s been playing around lately in his new band a.m. rejoice which I seem to keep missing. It’s hard to miss Submerged since they play all around Vermont all the time. OK, let’s keep up the theme with a song about the ocean.

23.) Song About The Ocean – Dino Bravo VT

Great song from Arc though they will be playing Joni Mitchell’s Blue album so who knows if they will play any of their own songs. This next band play next Wednesday at The Monkey House.

21.) Bridge To Panda Chaos – Zeus Springsteen
22.) Sky – The Nancy Druids
23.) The Great Forgetter – The New Siberians
24.) Highway Brain – The Cush

They played a great version of that one at Waking Windows. Great song from the Siberians. The Druids song was recorded at Robot Dog by Ryan Cohen. Zeus should have a lot of music coming soon. It’s been warm and hot and I’ve been driving with the windows down.

25.) Windows Down – Lendway
26.) Every Last One Of Us – SWALE
27.) ETI – The Contrarian

Great cover of the BOC song by Casey Merlin Rae. Swale are so amazing. I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?

Tonight’s local music radio show on WBKM 107.1FM will run from 9-11pm Thursday May 11, and will go as follows:

Song before: Bel-Air – The Church Band

intro

From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington. Spring is in full bloom and the leaves are coming out and it’s almost time for the lilacs. Tomorrow is my birthday so tonight I will just play a bunch of my favorite songs. If your band is not in the list I still love your songs but I just grabbed two hours of songs that fill my heart. I’m sure I could have done a twelve hour show and still missed a lot of greatness. Let’s begin with a woman with a huge heart and powerful voice.

1.) First Kiss – Peg Tassey MUSIC
2.) Liar – Maryse Smith
3.) Happy Birthday Harry – Hana Zara
4.) Presence – Satori Bob

Satori have a new album that I will dig into next week, but Presence has spoken to me continuously since the first time I heard it 25 or so years ago. Hana’s songs are entrancing and each one is a ride to go on. She is so great. It was nice to see Maryse briefly at Waking Windows last weekend. Peg is so fantastic. OK, last week I played the last song on Kat Wright’s By My Side album, so it’s time to start a new one. Last year this next band put out three EP’s that really feel like one album. Here is the first song from Light’s, Camera, and Acton.

5.) The Storm Has Been Weathered – 1881
6.) It’ll Be OK – Let’s Whisper
7.) When The Nights Get Long – Carraway
8.) Alone In The Night – Andriana Chobot

I’ve been captivated by Andriana’s music since I first heard it last year. I love everything about that Carraway song. It’ll Be OK has been stuck in my head for the past few weeks. Great song from 1881. Here is another great song.

9.) Piano In Every Room – gneiss
10.) Giving Up The Ghost – Aaron Flinn
11.) Loose Tooth – Clever Girls
12.) Freeway – David Rosane & The Zookeepers

I just love everything about that song. Loose was recorded live at Robot Dog Studio by Ryan Cohen. I love how it rocks so hard. Aaron has a ton of great songs and that one just had to find it’s way into this mix. I love it when there is music everywhere and a piano in every room. This next song has been stuck in my head lately too.

13.) Always Monica – Chin Ho
14.) Little French Earthquakes – Phil Yates & The Affiliates
15.) Politicians In My Eyes – Death World Wide
16.) I-90 East – ROUGH FRANCIS

I love all of Francis’ songs but there is something about that one that made it jump out at me. So, last Friday I was quickly walking down Riverside ave when a car pulled over and said Tim, get in. Thanks for the ride to Waking Windows Urian Hackney and Julian Hackney!! Politicians is a great song and I loved seeing them at the Flynn not so long ago. Earthquakes is one of my many absolute favorites. Monica, always! Every time I catch this next band I just love them.

17.) Windigo – Crazyhearse
18.) Orange Like Water – The Cush
19.) Every Last One Of Us – SWALE
20.) The Revenge Of Vera Gemini – The Contrarian

That version of the Blue Oyster Cult song is so fantastic. Swale were great at Waking Windows and played a stunning version of that song. It was so wonderful to finally see the Cush again at Waking Windows. They played a stunning version of that song. Hmmm, Windigo. The first time I heard this next song it sent shivers down my spine. It still does.

21.) Gazerbeam – The Mountain Says No
22.) Black, Blue, and White – The New Siberians
23.) The Space Between – The Nancy Druids
24.) TFAY – Elephants of Scotland

I love a lot of Elephant’s music but that one always stands out. I love the Druids so much! There are many great songs from the Siberians but that one just seemed to fit the set. Hmmm, mountain. OK, this next band always rock.

25.) Burning Bridges – Blue Button
26.) Papertrain – Dave Jarvis (Daffy Mal Yinkleyank)
27.) Sequoia 3 – Binger
28.) Jackbooted Thugs (Have All The Best Drugs) – Anders Parker

That is such a great song from Anders. I love a lot of Binger songs but always keep coming back to that one. Great song from Dave. His band Agent 802 are starting to play shows. Button always rock hard. I hope you were OK with indulging me on the day before my birthday. Next week I will play lots of new music and take some chances but tonight I just wanted to hear some favorites. See you next week.

29.) Sayonara – Black Rabbit
outro

Songs after:
Crucifix Corner (live) – Fish
Fractured Mirror – Ace Frehley
King Of The Mountain (live) – Kate Bush
Something I Drew – farm
Sober – Vedora

Swale 016

I’m on vacation in Washington DC and Virginia so there is no way to do my local music radio show on WBKM 107.1FM tonight (Thursday April 27) unless I had the foresight to spend last Wednesday setting up the show and doing the vocal interaction between the songs last Thursday after setting up last weeks show. Tonight’s show will run from 9-11pm US Eastern time April and can be streamed from the Facebook link above. Sorry for the early notice, I hope you remember to tune in this evening. Maybe Tony Gallucci can tag me and repost this later. It will go as follows.

Song before: Oh Freedom – Bernie Sanders

From our small city to the great big world, these are the sounds of Burlington. I’m on vacation but thanks to the magic of science and technology I can bring you the other show that I recorded last week. Tonight we will take a deep dive into a few of the great bands that Vermont is blessed with. Let’s begin with a band who have two EPs and two albums. Here’s a set of music that has been recorded since their last album, and most will be on the album they are about to unleash on us. Let’s begin with the song that may not be on the album.

1.) Black Boys On Mopeds – SWALE
2.) Wooden Heart – Swale
3.) Release Your Records – Swale
4.) Every Last One Of Us – Swale

Swale are so fantastic. I can’t wait for the new album, even though I’ve heard many of the songs many times live. It’s going to be great and I will share it with you when they release the record. OK, here is the next song on By My Side.

5.) All About You – Kat Wright
6.) By My Side (Radio Remix) – Kat Wright
7.) Dear God – Kat Wright
8.) The Light – Kat Wright

That’s another great song from By My Side. God was from Introducing. The Radio Remix was a version of the song before the new album came out. You just rock. This next singer constructs catchy songs, has a great voice, and knows how to put music fans in a happy place.

9.) The Interrogator (Enhanced) – Milton Busker
10.) Ordinary Day – Milton Busker
11.) All The Same To You – Milton Busker
12.) My Fear Of Losing You – Milton Busker

Two of those songs are from You Are What You Pretend To Be and two are from Dance Songs Volume II. There is a lot of other great music on those albums too. These next bands are classic Burlington.

13.) Tastes Like Nothing – Zola Turn
14.) Escape Artist – Zola Turn
15.) Dragged Around The Universe – Queen Tangerine
16.) It’s Real Again – Zola Turn

Zola were so great in the ’90’s. After they ceased, Alice Austin and Julia Austin formed Queen Tangerine and put out a wonderful album. Don’t we all feel dragged around the universe sometimes? This next band put out an album and played a bunch of shows in the 00’s and just put out a fantastic new album last year.

17.) Really Doesn’t Matter – The New Siberians
18.) Black 17 – The New Siberians
19.) 1965 – The New Siberians
20.) Circle K – The New Siberians

All of those songs are so catchy and rock nicely. What a great band! Speaking of great bands, this next one has been playing staggering shows lately and just put out a new album.

21.) Nothing In This – The Mountain Says No
22.) Statistik – The Mountain Says No
23.) I Know Right – The Mountain Says No
24.) The Bomb – The Mountain Says No

Their songs are so intense and rock so hard. Yea Mountain! Let’s close tonight with a set from a band who evolved out of two of my favorite bands and show the evolution.

25.) Bomb – Envy
26.) Very Underground – The Red Telephone
27.) By Design – The Nancy Druids
28.) The Space Between – The Nancy Druids

Sean and Ann Mindell were in Envy. Sean joined Matt Hutton in The Red Telephone, then Sean and Ann teamed up with John Franklin to form the Druids. The sound has changed a bit but the beauty in the structure has not. Well, I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?

Songs after: Plague Of Ghosts (live USA) – Fish
Alone In The Night – Andriana Chobot
King Of The Mountain – Kate Bush
Morrigan – Children In Paradise
The Vigilant Ones – The Cush
Almost With You – The Church
What’s In California? – Josh Glass
regular programming.

OK, I’m heading to the bus then heading to Yorktown then going to get a tattoo, or at least see one.
