Song before: I Don’t Remember – Peter Gabriel

From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington. It’s been a beautiful week of warm and hot sunny days so let’s head to the beach.

3.) I Wanna Be A Lifeguard – Blotto
4.) Blue Sky – Black Rabbit
5.) Lovely Day – gneiss

It’s been so nice to have so many lovely days lately. Gneiss are at Red Square tonight. There has been lots of blue sky lately and Rabbit sing such a cool song about it. They played a great show last Friday at The Monkey House. I remember seeing Blotto a couple of times at Hunts a long time ago. Great song from the Breaks. Now that Phil has taken the Affiliates joke to Chicago, it’s time for us to embrace the Ray Fork joke. OK, let’s play the next song on Camera.

6.) Shortcuts – 1881
7.) Miranda – Ninja Custodian
8.) Voodoo Camaro – Wide Wail
9.) Windows down – Lendway

It’s the perfect time to drive around with the windows down, perhaps in a magical camero. Classic song from Ninja. I’m working my way through the set of EP’s from 1881 called Lights, Camera, and Action song by song, week by week. OK, last Saturday I joined the Friends of Jim’s Basement and saw these next four bands.

11.) Goner – REDadmiral
12.) Shark – Greaseface
13.) Fruity Pebbles (Legend Of The Samurai) – Shred Flintstone
14.) Cross Country – Steven Wright

I want to thank Higher Ground for sponsoring us at WBKM and for bringing Mr Wright to the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts tomorrow, and for all of the other great music they bring to our community all the time. Great song from the New Jersey band with such a great name. Flintstone rocked hard in Jim’s basement last week. Greaseface also put on a brilliant show that night. 20.) The Mime – Joe Adler
21.) I Am A Hatchet – Phil Yates & The Affiliates

Joe’s been playing around lately in his new band a.m. rejoice which I seem to keep missing. It’s hard to miss Submerged since they play all around Vermont all the time. 3.) Crown Jewell – Wren Kitz
4.) Ghost – Kelly Ravin

Kelly and Lowell Thompson will play the show up show with their band the Welterweights. This show will benefit Black Lives Matter. Wren will also play a set, and so will Swale. I tossed in the Crow song since it’s so beautiful. OK, here is the next song on By My Side.

5.) Who’s Your Fool? – Kat Wright

Someone should bring Jane back, she is so much fun live. Hmmmm, Sarah. OK, this next band just released an EP called Drive By Fruiting.

13.) Once More, With Apathy – Mr. Doubtfire
14.) Harder – apb
15.) An Obscene Amount Of Debt – Sink or Swim
16.) I Choo-Choo-Choose You – Mr Doubtfire.

I had fun seeing those three bands at Jim’s basement last Saturday. Another band called Ransom Smith played also, but I could not find any of their music, so I had to play a second Doubtfire song. It’s new too. There is a long history of punk rock in Burlington and it’s nice to know it’s still happening. For the next song, let’s go back to the beginning.

17.) Weapons Factory – The Wards
18.) No More Sex – Pinhead
19.) Oklahoma Road Rage – Crazyhearse
20.) Mark My Words – Black Rabbit

Rabbit and Crazyhearse could come out and play those songs at any time. Wards and Pinhead rocked us ’80’s style. Song before: Morrigan – Children in Paradise

intro

From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington. I’ve got lots of great new music to play tonight but let’s begin with one of Vermont’s absolute treasures.

1.) Scattered Birds – Aaron Flinn
2.) Faded Movie Reel – Jeremy Gilchrist – Singer-Songwriter
3.) Wooden Heart – SWALE
4.) All Love – Kat Wright

That’s the next song from Kat’s album By My Side that I’m playing all the way through, song after song, week after week. That’s a brand new song from Swale from their upcoming album There’s No One Here. Wow, what a beautiful song, and what about those horns? The Jeremy song was from the interview and recording we did a few weeks back at Robot Dog Studio. Great song by Aaron, who is a great guy, a great singer, a great songwriter and a fantastic guitar player. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful person in our community. 6.) Just Another Day – The Nancy Druids
7.) By Design – The Nancy Druids
8.) The Space Between – The Nancy Druids

I love the songs and the over the top guitar playing and can’t thank Ryan and the Druids enough for playing that. Also, I brought my brother Ken along and he had a great time watching it all happen. OK, let’s play some more rock and roll.

13.) Give Love – 1881
14.) My Fear Of Losing You – Milton Busker
15.) Sorrow Of The Space Inside – Secret Heliotropes

That song is so quiet and so loud and so gentle and so powerful and always blows me away when then play it live. I’m so happy I finally get to play it for you. That’s another cool song from Heliotropes album A Well Lit Room. Great song from Milton and same for 1881. OK, let’s keep rocking.

17.) Journals – Senders
18.) This Ain’t The Summer Of Love – The Contrarian
19.) Blind Pigs – ROUGH FRANCIS
20.) Burn – Dirty Blondes

I was listening to Pigs the other day and the imagery of burn and summer of love made me want to play those three together. Great song from Senders. OK, It’s my job to play local music but I just have to cheat now and then. There’s this french prog rock band called Children In Paradise who have been captivating me lately. The singer is about to release her solo album and is starting a crowdfunding campaign on April 1st. Since I play her music before and after my show all the time I thought I’d toss in one of her new songs.

21.) Who Are These Gods? – Dam Kat
22.) Be Like Ryan – The Mountain Says No
23.) Counting On A Ghost – Elephants of Scotland
24.) Freeway – David Rosane & The Zookeepers

18.) We Shall Overcome – Bernie Sanders and 30 VT Artists
19.) Secret – Madaila
20.) You’ve Got Problems – Kat Wright

Great song from Kat and the band. Madaila likely have nothing to do with the band the Medallions who are playing at the oath of action day at The Skinny Pancake Burlington tomorrow but stop in and find out for yourself. Great message from Bernie and all the wonderful artists. OK, let’s rock.

21.) All My Life – Wide Wail
22.) Don’t Turn Back – Kelly Ravin
23.) The Summer Of Andy – The Cancer Conspiracy
24.) Tastes Like Nothing – Zola Turn

Zola and CC rocked us so well back in the 1990’s. Great new song from Kelly and old song from WW. This next artist is a constant inspiration to me.

25.) First Kiss – Peg Tassey MUSIC
26.) The Territory – Hana Zara
27.) Make It Work – The New Siberians
28.) Tha Critic – Ninja Custodian
29.) Ninjas Vs Zombies (Let’s Keep Our Heads) – Phil Yates

We may have to go out of our way to make it a point to keep our heads starting tomorrow. Great rocker from Ninja. Same for the Siberians. Hana and Peg create such strong music. I love them both. I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?
