Song before: Stars Die – Porcupine Tree

intro

From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington. I’m struck by the passing of people and the passing of stars that have happened recently. Let’s begin tonight with a cosmic connection that we all share.

1.) New Moon – Clare Byrne: Song and Dance
2.) Solitude – Alpenglow
3.) Resist – Jeremy Gilchrist – Singer-Songwriter
4.) Free – Francesca Blanchard

That’s a cool new song from Francesca and that’s a cool new song from Jeremy. The Alpenglow song has been running though my head lately so I thought I’d share. Great song by Clare. When I saw the first post about #MeToo I had that sinking feeling that almost every woman that I know was going to post one. I think it’s terrible that women have to endure this but I think it’s great that this is all coming to light. We should deal with this openly and move on to the path of just treating every other human being with respect and care. Come on people, I know you can step up. Here is a song about a woman being stalked and attacked and how it feels. I hope it helps us all move away from this behavior.

5.) Elevator – SWALE
6.) Mom Vibes – Thick Business
7.) A Cut In The Night Sky – Matt the Gnat and the Gators
8.) Mother’s OK – Split Tongue Crow

Great song from the Rutland Band. Cool song from Matt that we recorded a couple of weeks ago at Robot Dog Studio. Thick Business are from Boise Idaho and played last night at The Monkey House and they were amazing. Swale opened the show and it was just a great night. OK, this song has been running through my head a lot lately too.

9.) Able To Breathe – Peter Burton
10.) In The Country – Bardela
11.) Creatures – Hayley Jane and the Primates
12.) On My Way – Hover

That’s a classic from Burlington’s 1990’s. Cool new song from the Primates who are an amazing band live. Lovely songs from Bardela and Peter. OK, let’s play the next song on the Surf Sabbath album that I am playing all the way through, song after song, week after week.

13.) Sabbath Bloody Sabbath – Surf Sabbath (The High Breaks)
14.) Inevitability Of Death – The Tragically Hip
15.) Mary’s Line Into This View – Ouzkxqlzn
16..) Oh You, You’re You – Ruckzuck

Last time Ruckzuck were in town I saw them 3 times in two days. They will be at The Monkey House on Sunday around 7 then at Radio Bean at midnight. I’ll see about working out that third show…Great song from Lauren Costello‘s band. Just for the record, I checked and the name of the band is not technically pronounceable. The music is nice and that’s all that matters. A lot of us are feeling the loss of Gordon Downie from The Tragically Hip. He was such a force of life it’s hard to imagine that he is gone. They rocked Burlington, and all of Vermont, for many years. Great song from the Surfers. OK, this band played a great show last Saturday at The Monkey House.

17.) Juliet – Cave Bees
18.) Again The Rain – Pinact
19.) Flypaper – Persian Claws
20.) Double Line – Black Rabbit

It was so cool to see Rabbit play Flypaper recently at the Monkey House. I thought I’d put a Rabbit song after the Claws song to give you a hint of what it sounded like. Pinact are from Scotland and played with the Cave Bees at the Monkey House show lat Saturday. Both bands rocked hard. OK, let’s keep rocking.

21.) Black Blue And White – The New Siberians
22.) King Grifter – The Mountain Says No
23.) At The Hundredth Meridian – The Tragically Hip
24.) Springtime In Vienna – The Tragically Hip

I saw the Hip on a boat cruise and then open for Eric Johnson at Memorial Auditorium. I saw them headline Memorial many times. I’ve seen them in Montreal and Verdun and on at least three mountains in Vermont. I’ve seen them at Higher Ground, both the old one and the new one and thanks for sponsoring us HG. I saw them recently at Shelburne Farms and the Flynn. Every Show was great. Thanks guys!!

25.) New Orleans Is Sinking (live) – The Tragically Hip

Well, I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, which will be the annual Halloween show.

Tonight’s local music radio show will run from 9-11pm June 15th and can be heard on 107.1FM or from the Facebook page of WBKM and will go as follows,

Song before: I Don’t Remember – Peter Gabriel

intro

From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington. It’s been a beautiful week of warm and hot sunny days so let’s head to the beach.

1.) Beach Song – Mr. Ray Fork
2.) A Walk On Ballard Beach – The High Breaks
3.) I Wanna Be A Lifeguard – Blotto
4.) Blue Sky – Black Rabbit
5.) Lovely Day – gneiss

It’s been so nice to have so many lovely days lately. Gneiss are at Red Square tonight. There has been lots of blue sky lately and Rabbit sing such a cool song about it. They played a great show last Friday at The Monkey House. I remember seeing Blotto a couple of times at Hunts a long time ago. Great song from the Breaks. Now that Phil has taken the Affiliates joke to Chicago, it’s time for us to embrace the Ray Fork joke. OK, let’s play the next song on Camera.

6.) Shortcuts – 1881
7.) Miranda – Ninja Custodian
8.) Voodoo Camaro – Wide Wail
9.) Windows down – Lendway

It’s the perfect time to drive around with the windows down, perhaps in a magical camero. Classic song from Ninja. I’m working my way through the set of EP’s from 1881 called Lights, Camera, and Action song by song, week by week. OK, last Saturday I joined the Friends of Jim’s Basement and saw these next four bands.

10.) Winnebago – Ellen Degenerates
11.) Goner – REDadmiral
12.) Shark – Greaseface
13.) Fruity Pebbles (Legend Of The Samurai) – Shred Flintstone
14.) Cross Country – Steven Wright

I want to thank Higher Ground for sponsoring us at WBKM and for bringing Mr Wright to the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts tomorrow, and for all of the other great music they bring to our community all the time. Great song from the New Jersey band with such a great name. Flintstone rocked hard in Jim’s basement last week. Greaseface also put on a brilliant show that night. Admiral have stripped down to more of a acoustic band and were cool last Saturday too. Ellen closed that show nicely. OK, let’s play another Burlington classic.

15.) Wally Rides The Ferry – Zoot Wilson
16.) Fly On The Wall – Zola Turn
17.) Heartbreak Baby – Villanelles
18.) Can’t Feel It – Vetica

Great song from Vetica. Heartbreak rocks hard. Same for Zola. Such a fun song from Zoot. OK, let’s go out for a ride.

19.) Freeway – Totally Submerged
20.) The Mime – Joe Adler
21.) I Am A Hatchet – Phil Yates & The Affiliates
22.) Freeway – David Rosane & The Zookeepers

Such a great song from David. It’s sad to see Phil Yates move to Chicago but at least he and the band played a blistering show at the Monkey House last Friday. I’m sure we will see him again. Joe’s been playing around lately in his new band a.m. rejoice which I seem to keep missing. It’s hard to miss Submerged since they play all around Vermont all the time. OK, let’s keep up the theme with a song about the ocean.

23.) Song About The Ocean – Dino Bravo VT
24.) Sober – Vedora
25.) In The Rain – Plan B

Plan are a classic Burlington band from the ’80’s. I love how huge that song is. I always loved it when Vedora played Sober and Matt went way off on guitar. Hmmm, song about the ocean. Hmmmm. OK, there’s not much time left so let’s keep rocking.

26.) Jackbooted Thugs (Have All The Best Drugs) – Anders Parker
27.) Something I Drew – farm
28.) Mr Reed – Seth Yacovone Band

Great rocker from Seth Yacovone and the guys. Classic song from Farm who played in the 2000’s. Great rocker from Anders. I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?

WBKM CREW

http://www.wbkm.org/

I just got back from radio show 39 on WBKM.ORG.  Last week was Thanksgiving and I had a great idea for a show.  It turned out that I had the night off, and the internet only radio station had some special programming going on.  Tonight, one week later, I did the Thanksgiving show.  I had an issue loading in more music, so I changed it up a bit to be all classic.

Song before: Brothers And Sisters – Joe Adler And The Rangers Of Danger

intro

From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington.  Last week I had an idea for a Thanksgiving show.  I had the night off, so I will do it tonight.  I was thinking about the many things in my life I have to be thankful for.  I’ve got great parents and a brother.  I’ve got lots of great friends.  There’s tons of great music around all the time.  Tonight I want to choose one and highlight how thankful I feel.  I am very thankful for my brother Ken.  He’s had some challenges in life, and it’s sometimes hard to drag him out to local shows.  Since I have started my radio show, he listens often and writes me an e-mail about it after.  He really likes playing air guitar to rocking songs.  This show is dedicated to him.  Tonight we start with Alice Austin’s next song from To A Star In The Yard, this is Run My Man on WBKM, and this is Burlington’s Kind Of Music.

1.) Run My Man – Alice Austin
2.) Be Aggressive – BE AGGRESSIVE
3.) 89 – Black Rabbit
4.) Kick The Can – Cave Bees

Are you rocking yet Ken?  I sure am.  Cave Bees are back in Austin for the winter.  It was good to see them a few times.  Black Rabbit always rock!  Be Aggressive just played at Punksgiving in White River.  Up next, let’s keep rocking.

5.) Las Vegas – Ninja Custodian
6.) Bomb – Envy
7.) The Eldridge – Cameo Harlot

I hope Ken has been rocking out to those last few.  While it’s sometimes hard to get him out to local shows, We’ve been to quite a few big ones together.  The last one was the Clockwork Angels tour in Montreal.

8.) The Trees – RUSH
9.) Shout It Out Loud – KISS
10.) Iron Maiden – Iron Maiden
11.) Hey You – Pink Floyd

I’ve seen Floyd twice without Roger, and Roger three times solo, but never together.  I put Hey You in, because for two years our parents got us tickets to see a full show Pink Floyd cover band at the Flynn Theater.  They were pretty fun shows and it was good to see them with Ken.  Last night at Nectar’s there was a Floyd tribute band called Dark Side Of The Mountain.  Matt Burr, Bob Wagner and the rest of the band were pretty excellent.  They will be there for the nest two Wednesdays.  Ken and I have seen Iron Maiden many many times.  When Kiss got back together, we saw them three times, and they were great!  Ken always seems to like it when I play this next band, but there is one song he seems to like just a little bit more.

12.) Ornan’s Song – The Dirty Blondes
13.) Morning Again – Doll Fight
14.) Come To Space – ROUGH FRANCIS

Ken always likes it when I play Rough Francis.  I really should try and drag him to a show sometime soon.  I like the symmetry of dedicating this to my brother with a band lead by brothers.  Doll Fight really rock too.  Well, I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town.  Let’s do it again next week, shall we?

Hey, Tim still here.  I’ve always been playing a Fish song after my show, and Ken has remarked how much he’s liked all the songs on A Feast Of Consequences.  This is my favorite.

Song after: Crucifix Corner

Kiss Me   Leave a comment

Kiss me

Kiss me if you can handle the magnet

Kiss me if you can handle the attraction

I will emit to keep drawing you close

To keep you kissing me

Turn me on

Flip my switch and let me wrap you with my love

Let me lightly touch your sensitive lips, as I

Kiss you with love and caress you gently

To keep us turning us on

Be attracted to me

As I turn myself into a magnet

And succumb to the force attracting me to you

The physical force taught by Newton, to

Keep you attracted to me

Kiss me

Not just with your soft beautiful lips

Kiss me with everything in your soul

Kiss me like the only way I can kiss you

And when we kiss just right

Let’s keep on kissing

For every moment that we can
