Song before: Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding – Elton John

intro

From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington. Let’s begin tonight with the first song on Swale’s new album There’s No One Here.

1.) I’ll Start By Opening – SWALE
2.) Californ-i-A – Ryan Ober
3.) Sailor – Ethan Azarian Music
4.) Wilderness (?) – Lindsay and Jeff
5.) Poem For Torin/Ethan Is Stoned – Peg Tassey MUSIC

It was great to have Ethan Azarian back in town last Saturday. He brought Lindsay and Jeff and Kendra from Austin and they played Light Club Lamp Shop. Peg got up and played Ethan Is Stoned with Ethan. It was a great moment in Burlington music history. That’s a new song from Ryan who will be at Foam Brewers on Friday. Great stuff from Swale. OK, let’s play the next song on the Action EP.

6.) Give Love – 1881
7.) These Summer Nights – Sarah Blacker & New England Groove Association
8.) Elevate – Breakfast for the Boys
9.) Strings – Binger

After seeing the show at the Lamp shop I went down to The Skinny Pancake Burlington and saw a couple of songs from Breakfast and a full set by Binger. It was a great night. I love the line in the Sarah song about midsummer’s magic chance. Great song from 1881. This next band played yesterday in the rotary in Winooski.

10.) Ankle Breaker – The High Breaks
11.) Break A Leg – David Rosane & The Zookeepers
12.) Migraine – Hammydown
13.) 45 Clever Girls

Clever and Hammy will be at The Monkey House on Saturday. It will be a great show. I saw David and the band at Radio Bean last Sunday and didn’t go get a drink during the song or anything. Great stuff from the Breaks. This next band are at Foam tonight.

14.) Drivin’ All Alone – The Parts
15.) All Down Tonight – Swale
16.) The Process – Pinhead
17.) Mary – Anachronist

Great song from the central Vermont band. Classic song from Pinhead. I’m so happy I can play that Swale song. They’ve been playing it around for a while. The Parts always rock. So, I saw my first sunflower this week so you know what that means.

18.) Sunflower Street – David L Jarvis
19.) Move Through Time – Persian Claws
20.) Old North Ender – James Kochalka
21.) Gettin’ High – Heavy Plains

Plains are no more but they played some great shows and left us with some great music, like that song. Hopefully, Luke Adam will get his new band out soon. Classic song about the old north end of Burlington by James. Great songs from the Claws and Dave. OK, let’s keep rocking.

22.) Alienation – Black Rabbit
23.) Moving Song – Zola Turn
24.) Finally Found The One – When Particles Collide
25.) Righteous – ROUGH FRANCIS

I can’t wait for the new Francis album. Particles are on tour everywhere. Check them out if they come to your town. Old classic from Zola and new classic from Rabbit. OK, let’s keep rocking.

26.) It Won’t Stop – Phantom Suns
27.) Pick Up Your Clothes – The New Siberians
28.) Time To Get Out – Aaron Flinn
29.) Here’s Where You Were – Swale

That’s the last song on Swale’s new album. Great songs from Aaron and the Siberians. Phantom is Ryan Cohen‘s band when he’s not in the studio. I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?

Swale 016

Tonight’s local music radio show on WBKM 107.1FM Thursday June 22nd will run from 9-11pm US Eastern time and will go as follows:

Song before: You’ve Got Time – Regina Spektor

intro

From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington. Phish became so huge that a lot of people think of Burlington as a host to many jam bands, which we certainly have plenty, but we also have lots of diverse artists and some even think your song is too long.

1.) Your Song’s Too Long – Mr. Ray Fork
2.) Tell Me No – Clever Girls
3.) Fast – Chin Ho
4.) Terrarium – Vedora

I miss Vedora. What a beautiful song. Chin put a ton of music into our community in the 90’s. Nice rocker from the Girls. Ray Fork, you’ve just got to love him. OK, here is the next song on Camera.

5.) Dead End Street – 1881
6.) Small Town Movie – The Cush
7.) Bloodboy – Barbacoa
8.) Off To Be On – Near North

Cool song by the Vermont band. I should really try and catch up with them soon. Classic cover of the Envy song by Barbacoa. Bill Mullins and Kirk Flanagan from the band will play at Foam Brewers tomorrow as the Idles. Classic song from the Cush. Great song from 1881. This next set of music has a universal theme. It begins with not being able to get by, even though you are in the show.

9.) Soul Piggy Bank – SWALE
10.) I Got A Job – Maryse Smith
11.) Paycheck – Slingshot Dakota
12.) I Need A Raise – Cave Bees
13.) Rejected – Black Rabbit
14.) I Quit – Blotto

With the setup from the first song, I think you can see the flow of the theme from the song titles. Great songs, each and every one of them. OK, let’s keep rocking.

15.) Lion Tamer – Carraway
16.) Parking Lot – Villanelles
17.) Silence Kills – Secret Heliotropes
18.) Just Another Day – The Nancy Druids

I had to play that one because of the lion tamer reference. Cool songs from Heliotropes, Villanelles and Carraway. This next song is just great.

19.) Haze – gneiss
20.) Bury Me – Forest Gray
21.) Harvest Moon – Silver Bridget
22.) Easy Come – Split Tongue Crow

Great song from the Rutland band. Bridget are so wonderful. I caught up with Forest Gray at Radio Bean last Sunday and he put on a delightful show as always. Gneiss are at Martell’s in Jefforsonville tomorrow. OK, time to keep rocking.

23.) Spit N Fire Blues – Joe Adler & The Rangers Of Danger
24.) Showdown At The Blue Moon Hotel – Jerichovox
25.) Sequoia 3 – Binger

Great rocker by the very thoughtful band that Facebook won’t let me tag. Jerichovox are from Jericho VT and play cool songs. That song by Joe Adler and the band was recorded live at Nectar’s. OK, let’s keep rocking.

26.) Flypaper – Persian Claws
27.) Light’s Of Montreal – Lobot
28.) Strawberry Blonde – Dino Bravo VT
29.) Nowhere Feels Like Home – Fire the Cannons

Cannons only existed for a couple of years but left us with some great songs. Dino will be at The Monkey House on Sunday with some other musicians to raise money for a good cause, so you should Show Up. Lobot were so much fun, and so were the Claws. I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?
