What a great song form a great band. I want to extend my condolences to Tyler Bolles ,who plays bass in the band. He and Daniel Bolles and their family just lost their father. Song before: Alone In The Night – Andriana Chobot

intro

From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to open with a serious heavy song or a fun happy one, so let’s do both.

1.) Elevator – SWALE
2.) You Gotta Move – Hayley Jane and the Primates
3.) Don’t Tell Me To Smile – The Red Newts
4.) Love Me Forever – Steady Betty

That is such a lovely song from Betty. I agree with the Newts that you should never tell a woman she has to smile. She can figure out whatever expression she chooses. Nice rocker from the Primates and great song from Swale. I want to thank Ben Slotnick – Mandolinist for turning me on to this next artist.

5.) Feeling Small – Abby Sherman
6.) Liar – Maryse Smith
7.) [name] – Adrienne Cooper Smith
8.) Modern Love – Ouzkxqlzn

That’s such a cool take on the Bowie song. Lauren Costello is just amazing. I love the electric banjo on Adrenne’s song. That’s a classic from Maryse and a great new song from Abby. OK, this next artist is back in town and is playing a show Saturday the 11th at Light Club Lamp Shop, and a lot of us are excited. Here is a set of her music.

9.) Lithuania – Hana Zara
10.) The Cats – Hana Zara
11.) Megan’s Song – Hana Zara
12.) Hartford – Hana Zara
13.) Womb Of Amanda – Hana Zara

I love getting wrapped into her songs. I hope you did too. Definitely go to the Lamp Shop this weekend. That last song makes me think of fathers and mothers and brothers and sisters and makes me think of this song.

14.) Brothers And Sisters – Joe Adler
15.) Paint It Black – Silver Bridget
16.) L Ron Hubbard – Humble Hero
17.) Black, Blue, And White – The New Siberians

Great rocker from the Siberians. Hubbard is such a fun song, I had to play it again. Cool cover from the masters of cool covers. Great song from Joe. OK, here is the next song on The Uncanny Doom Service.

18.) Collider – Doom Service
19.) Not True – Peg Tassey MUSIC
20.) Vampire Queen – Nechromancer
21.) Space Odyssey – Aliendog
22.) Doomed Convoy – Wolfhand

I got to see Wolfhand and Nechromancer at Nectar’s on Monday and both were really cool. I caught Aliendog a couple of weeks ago and loved their show. I’m psyched I have a song to play now. Great songs from Peg and Doom. This next band are doing a release party for their new album MSP3 Counter Attack on Saturday at Higher Ground. OK, enough of me, let’s just listen to music for a while.

Such a great song from Ruckzuck. Hopefully, they will come back and visit again soon. I love that Shakers song. It was great seeing David and the Zookeepers in a library in Fairfax. The tour continues to Vergennes tonight. I love how Francis are staring racism in the face and fighting for justice for all, the way it should be. Particles will stop by town in a few weeks, so I wanted to get you ready. Bees are opening for Francis on Saturday. Well, I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Song before: It’s Just A Ride – Bill Hicks

inro

From our small city to the great big world, these are the sounds of Burlington. I can seen you and you are amazing. You are beautiful. You can let that shine into our world at any time. Let out your super powers.

1.) Super Powers – The Dead Shakers
2.) Interstellar Kid – Jeremy Gilchrist – Singer-Songwriter
3.) Chosen Names – Julia Caesar
4.) Girl, Friend – T-Rextasy

Rex are from New York but stopped by town last Saturday to play at the Ramble showcase down by North st and North ave. They were so fun. Julia opened that show. Great new song form Jeremy’s new album Threaded. I love that new song from the Shakers. More about that in a bit. OK, here’s a delightful song from a delightful band.

5.) Red Rose – The Zii Trees
6.) Don’t You Wanna Know – The Thursday Torys
7.) St Patrick’s Day – Carraway
8.) Morning Again – Doll Fight

I miss Fight. They rocked so hard. Super cool song form Carraway. Great song from the Torys new album Future Folk. I’m sure I’ll get more on the air in the next few weeks. OK, here is the next song on The Uncanny Doom Service album. It’s cool that they tossed in a couple of clips of the Twilight Zone episode that this song was written about.

9.) Monsters Are Due On Maple Street – Doom Service
10.) Don’t Want To Know If You Are Lonely – Black Rabbit
11.) Ornan – Dirty Blondes
12.) Chum On The Drums – Bee Bee Sea

I don’t know it for sure, but it really sounds like Sea are singing Ornan is a chum so I had to play it with the Blondes song to celebrate the wonderful person Ornan McLean. He’s been through more than anyone should have to go through lately. We love you Ornan. Great cover from Rabbit and great rocker from Doom. Is it really that easy to dupe us humans? Sigh. OK, relax, get nice and chill, get yourself in a happy mood and let’s go. Let’s take a dive into a new album called All Circles Vanish.

13.) Can You Take Me Back – The Dead Shakers
14.) Surfin’ Ain’t As Fun As It Used To Be – The Dead Shakers
15.) Headless – The Dead Shakers
16.) Taung Child – The Dead Shakers
17.) Websdr.ewi.utwente.nl-8901 – The Dead Shakers
18.) I Will Bow And Be Simple – The Dead Shakers

19.) Random Earth – Elephants of Scotland
20.) Lines And Spaces – The Cancer Conspiracy
21.) Purpose and Object – The Contrarian
22.) The Road – Anders Parker

That’s such an amazing song from Anders. Great song from Casey Rae. Cancer played around in the ’90’s and still do shows now and then. I’m not sure what’s happening with the Elephants now that Ornan is no longer drumming for them. Either way, that’s a cool song. OK, this next band played the Ramble show too.

23.) Gorilla Monsoon – Barbacoa
24.) Who Do You Love? – The Red Newts
25.) My Life In The West – David Rosane & The Zookeepers
26.) It’ll Be OK – Let’s Whisper

I love that song from Whisper. David and the band are continuing their series of shows in Vermont libraries. They will be in Fairfax tomorrow and I may have to catch that one. I chose West for obvious reasons. After the show at the Ramble I walked the 10 or 20 feet over to The Old North Ender and caught some songs by the Newts. They played a fun version of that one and some cool original tunes that I will have to track down soon. Barbacoa are just amazing. 12.) Veratrum – Piqued
13.) Frosty Pink skies – Miku Daza

22.) Essex Ferry – The Mountain Carol
23.) One Of A Kind – Adam Rabin

That’s a cool new song that Adam just released. Great song form Carol’s new album Starkiller and The Banshees. I’ve been listening to it a lot and love the whole album. The Decemberists put on a great show Saturday at the Shelburne Museum and that song really jumped out. Milton is so great. This next band will be at ArtsRiot on Wednesday.

24.) Felon – SWALE
25.) Gold In California – The Red Telephone

Sean Toohey and Matt Hutton from RT will play a show in town very soon. Well, I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?
