intro
From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington. The Calendar says it’s close to Christmas but with it 50 degrees and raining, it sure does not feel like it. I guess it’s a good thing the world leaders are at least putting some plans into action to attempt to halt global warming. My song before the show tonight was from the concert for Bangladesh. On Saturday a bunch of local musicians will recreate the show at Higher Ground. I think I’m working, but will be there if I can. Tonight, let’s begin with some local artist playing Christmas songs. Let’s begin with one of my favorites.
1.) Happy X-mas (War Is Over) – Joshua Glass Music
2.) Hallelujah – Swale
3.) Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer – Linda Bassick
4.) Carol of the Bells – Gordon Stone
Nice version of the classic by the super-talented Stone. Did you catch the version of that song with Stephen and Henry Rollins on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night? Check it out if you missed it! Great version of Rudolph by Linda Bassick. I love the lyric rewrite on the Cohen classic. Great song from Josh. Let’s keep going with more Christmas songs.
5.) It Came Upon A Midnight Clear – Electric Halo
6.) God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen – Viperhouse
7.) Silver Bells – Josh Glass
8.) Winter Wonderland – The N-Zones
That was a fun romp from the classic Burlington band. Another great song from Josh. Nice groove to the Viper song. Great interpretation from Halo, who feature Joe Adler and the music saw of Johnnie Day Durand. Let’s go back in time to the late ’80’s or early ’90’s when Burlington bands really came into their own.
9.) Rain – The Cuts
10.) Hold Me Tight – The Decentz
11.) So Nice – Ninja Custodian
12.) Let’s Bury Bob – Screaming Broccoli
Great rocker from the classic band. I love that Ninja song. I love that Decentz song. I had to play Rain due to the weather. OK, let’s get to the next song on Red Flannel Hash.
13.) Double Line – Black Rabbit
14.) Christmas Sled – The Mountain Says No
15.) Blind Pigs – ROUGH FRANCIS
16.) Beaten Down – Swale
The last time I listened to Pigs I though it has to mix into the Swale song. I’m psyched to see Francis at The Monkey House on New Year’s Eve! Killer Mountain song. Another classic from Rabbit. Swale just put out an EP with four Christmas songs, and are playing at the Monkey House tonight. I already played the fourth song on the album. Here are the other three.
17.) Just Another Day (Christmas) – Swale
18.) It’s Christmas – Swale
19.) Snow Again – Swale
Three new classics from one of the most wonderful bands in town. OK, let’s play some more classics from local bands.
20.) Santa Baby – Samara Lark Brown
21.) Frosty The Snowman – Construction Joe
22.) Jingle Bell Rock – Sarah Stickle
23.) The Christmas Song – Motel Brown
Just wonderful versions of classic songs. Here are some more.
24.) Little Drummer Boy – Aaron Flinn
25.) Merry Christmas Baby – Sandra Wright Band
26.) Oh Holy Night – Cait Hoffman
27.) Silent Night – Tammy Fletcher
Stunning solo vocal versions from Tammy and Cait. Nice groove to the Sandra song. Aaron is always so solid. OK, let’s play a few more then close with some regular local songs.
28.) White Christmas – Giovanina Bucci
29.) Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas – Greg Alexander
30.) Santa Claus Is Coming To Town – Scott Mangan
Three more absolute classics. OK, here is a song that always inspires me.
31.) Sequoia 3 – Binger
31.) Above The Frequency – Invisible Homes
32.) On A Sunday – Screaming Broccoli
33.) In A Different Part Of The World – The Cuts
Cuts are showing a bit of Pinhead influence on that one. Killer song from Broccoli. Great new song from Homes. I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. I will be off the next two weeks to spend some time with my family. I want to say Happy Birthday to my brother Ken, since his birthday is Saturday. I will be back in 2016.
