Song before: The Wanting Comes In Waves/Repaid – The Decemberists

intro

From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington. I just heard that Hana Zara is coming back to town on February 11th and I’m very excited. Let’s begin with a song about coming home.

1.) Zion Boat – Hana Zara
2.) Shady Grove – Ben Slotnick – Mandolinist
3.) And The Gods – The New Siberians
4.) Kentucky – Cricket Blue

I haven’t caught up with Cricket in a while and they are playing the show with Hana next month and that just makes it even more great. Another great song from the Siberians album Black, Blue, and White. Cool song from Ben. OK, let’s head over to Robot Dog Studio for some live music and an interview with The Mountain Says No.

5.) The Jam – The Mountain Says No
6.) If You Lie – The Mountain Says No
7.) Right Bright Lord – The Mountain Says No
8.) 3,000 Incubators – The Mountain Says No

Thanks Ryan Cohen for making us sound so great and thanks Mountain! OK, let’s rock.

9.) Loose Tooth – Clever Girls
10.) Not Good – Peg Tassey MUSIC
11.) Morning Again – Doll Fight
12.) Planning My Funeral – Poxy

I caught Poxy a couple of times at 242 Main. I think they broke up but were loud and furious for a while. Doll fight were an amazing band. I’m glad they left us so much great music. Peg rocked us hard in the ’90’s and hopefully will again in the future. Great song from Clever. This next band just released an album called Odd Todd.

13.) Two Girls – Comrade Nixon
14.) Buy Two, Get None Free – Crime Scene
15.) Fear Monger – Get A Grip
16.) There’s A Problem – Mr. Doubtfire
17.) Gross Indecency – Comrade Nixon

I figured if I was playing a song about indecency I had to play the Doubtfire song too. Grip and Crime are from a new Vt hardcore album from Get Stoked! Records. Nice work from Comrade. So, Rough Francis just released a new EP! Here it is.

18.) Don’t Look Back – ROUGH FRANCIS
19.) Hangin’ On – Rough Francis
20.) Waiting – Rough Francis
21.) Blind Pigs – Rough Francis

Pigs was the b-side from MSP2. The other three are all great and new songs. Yea. OK, let’s keep rocking.

22.) Drug Laws – SWALE
23.) The Light – Kat Wright
24.) Little Murder – Myra Flynn Music

Myra will release her new album Never Mind The Mourning tomorrow at Shelburne Vineyard. That’s a song from the album. Great song from Kat and the band. Swale are so great. OK, let’s rock the rest of the night away with another local legend.

25.) The Snake->The Violent Strain Of My Broken Heart – Seth Yacovone Band.

That was recorded at Nectar’s December 16, 2017. Thanks Archive.Org. I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?

Tonight’s local music Halloween show on 107.1FM WBKM runs from 9-11pm US Eastern time and will go as follows:

Song before: Who Are These Gods? – Dam Kat

intro

From our small mortuary to the great big graveyard, these are the skulls of Burlington. It’s been a terrifying few days in Burlington with cold wind and snow blanketing the beautiful red orange and gold leaves. The forecast is for it to get darker and darker until All Hallows Eve on Monday, then it will return to it’s usual lovely state. Our sponsor, Higher Ground, is likely going to send me to the gallows for not mentioning how great of a rock club they are but tonight I want to focus on the fusion of the physical world and the spirits that inhabit it. Our perception of life is merely the light dancing across shifting solid objects. Let’s explore this subject matter with a song called Shadow and Act by Invisible Homes on WBKM.ORG 107.1FM Burlington’s Kind Of Music, Plattsburgh’s kind of music and Danemora’s kind of music too.

1.) Shadow And Act – Invisible Homes
2.) Oh My God – Sarah Blacker
3.) Release The Dead – Chin Ho
4.) Angels And Devils – Invisible Homes

That was a song called Angels and Devils by Invisible Homes on WBKM.ORG 107.1FM Burlington, Plattsburgh, Danemora. Can you think of anything more terrifying than going back to your home after a long night at the clubs and finding it invisible? Once you find your way inside it must be hard to balance the angels and devils. For the tale before that I had to dig deep into one of our oldest graveyards to find the song Release the dead by Chin Ho. Did you enjoy Sarah Blacker’s tale of darkness and light in Oh My God? I hope Invisible Homes twin tales of Shadow and Act and Angels and Devils help you enjoy the thin thread between the worlds. Speaking of the devil. let’s take a journey to an ancient Vermont Farm for a song called Devil on WBKM.ORG 107.1FM Burlington’s Kind Of Music, Plattsburgh’s kind of music and Danemor’s kind of music too.

5.) Devil – farm
6.) Devil’s Work – Thompson Gunner
7.) Devil’s Right Hand – Swillbillie
8.) Devil Knows My Name – Great Western

Great Western must be terrified that the Devil Knows Their Name on WBKM.ORG 107.1FM Burlington, Plattsburgh, Danemora. Swillbillie told us a gruesome tale of a gun being used as The Devil’s Right Hand. Thompson Gunner told us a tale of he Devil’s Work, and Farm told us a story about freeing themselves from the hold of the Devil. Now, we shall let Hana Zara tell us about one of our most famous holiday’s. It’s called Day Of The Dead on WBKM.ORG 107.1FM Burlington’s Kind Of Music, Plattsburgh’s kind of music and Danemora’s kind of music too.

9.) Day Of The Dead – Hana Zara
10.) Raising The Dead – Carraway
11.) Ninjas Vs Zombies – Phil Yates
12.) Two Weeks (’til The End Of The World) – Grand

Considering America’s imminent grand decision, perhaps it is just Two Weeks (’til the end of the world) as the band Grand so nicely stated on WBKM.ORG 107.1FM Burlington, Plattsburgh, Danemora. I hope you enjoyed Phil Yates’ tale of Ninjas Vs Zombies and the epic battle for life. If the zombies should win, at least they dance well, as Carraway explained in Raising The Dead. Hana Zara’s cheery tale of the Day Of The Dead should give you hope too, in the darkest of evenings. Are you afraid yet? I hope so because it’s time to be terrified. It’s time for Doom Service and a Welcome To The Hellmouth on WBKM.ORG 107.1FM Burlington’s Kind Of Music, Plattsburgh’s kind of music and Danemora’s kind of music too.

13.) Welcome To The Hellmouth – Doom Service
14.) Demon Eyes – Lake Superior
15.) Demon Moon – Crazyhearse
16.) Vampyre – David Jarvis

That was a tale of the Vampyre by Dave Jarvis on WBKM.ORG 107.1FM Burlington, Plattsburgh, Danemora. Dave will resurrect his old body and band for a show tomorrow and I hear word that the Vampyre will appear. Were you more afraid of Crazyhearse’s story of the Demon Moon or Lake Superior’s Demon eyes? Both were pretty frightening. I hope you enjoyed your Welcome To The Hellmouth with Doom Service. They put on the darkest of shows last Tuesday at Nectar’s. This next singer plays all the time, but to find Alice Austin, you must go to a Graveyard Before Dark on WBKM.ORG 107.1FM Burlington, Plattsburgh, Danemora.

17.) Graveyard Before Dark – Alice Austin
18.) One More Grave – The Contrarian
19.) Children Of The Grave – Jesus Christ and the Hallucinogenic Allstars
20.) Paranoid – Surf Sabbath (The High Breaks)

Even ghouls like to surf so I hope you enjoyed the cover of Paranoid by Surf Sabbath on WBKM.ORG 107.1FM Burlington, Plattsburgh, Danemora. Since Vultures of Cult and SWALE are playing Black Sabbath cover shows on Saturday I had to subject us to Children Of The Grave by Jesus Christ and the Hallucinogenic All Stars. The Contrarian took us on a trip through One More Grave and we started in The Graveyard Before Dark with newly married Alice Austin. As all of the undead know, once you are in the grave, there is only one way to go, down. Fortunately, you will be guided by Our Lady Of The Underground as told by Anais Mitchell on WBKM.ORG 107.1FM Burlington’s Kind Of Music, Plattsburgh’s kind of music and Danemora’s kind of music too.

21.) Our Lady Of The Underground – Anais Mitchell
22.) I Put A Spell On You – Marco Benevento and Kat Wright
23.) You’ll Make A Great Ghost – the grift
24.) Ghost Train – Jerichovox

Did you enjoy your journey on the Ghost Train with Jerichovox on WBKM.ORG 107.1FM Burlington, Plattsburgh, Danemora? I hope so, there will be more ghostly songs soon. The Grift thought You Will Make A Great Ghost and I agree. That was Marco Benevento and Kat Wright who admitted that I Put A Spell On You and Anais Mitchell was Our Lady Of The Underground. Some people are addicted to the supernatural but Aaron Flinn is forever Giving Up The Ghost on WBKM.ORG 107.1FM Burlington’s Kind Of Music, Plattsburgh’s kind of music and Danemors kind of music too.

25.) Giving Up The Ghost – Aaron Flinn
26.) Counting On A Ghost – Elephants of Scotland
27.) Ghostified – Persian Claws
28.) Killing Ghosts – Better Things

Better things are lovely kids to think that they can go around Killing Ghosts on WBKM.ORG 107.1FM Burlington, Plattsburgh’, Danemora. The Persian Claws left us Ghostified and Elephants of Scotland regaled us with a tale of Counting On A Ghost. Aaron Flinn is still Giving Up The Ghost and may do so for all eternity. This next group of individuals has demised as a band, but spend some time before they left Planning My Funeral. They were briefly known as Poxy on WBKM.ORG 107.1FM Burlington’s Kind Of Music, Plattsburgh’s kind of music and Danemora kind of music too.

29.) Planning My Funeral – Poxy
30.) With The Dead – Vultures of Cult

As we approach Halloween, we are all With The Dead as foretold by Vultures of Cult on WBKM.ORG 107.1FM Burlington, Plattsburgh, Danemora. I hope you were terrified to check out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we? Goodbye. Farewell, See Ya, Sayonara.

31.) Black Cat – Black Rabbit
outro

Songs after:
Plague Of Ghosts (live USA 2000) – Fish
Phantom Girl – The Cush
Black 17 – The New Siberians

intro

From our small city to the great big world these are the Sounds of Burlington. It’s a lovely night in town and with a couple of outdoor shows happening there is literally music in the air. I want to begin by thanking Higher Ground for sponsoring WBKM.ORG and for all of the great music they bring to town, such as the Milk Carton Kids show happening next Wednesday. This first artist played a cool show at Light Club Lamp Shop on Tuesday and just released a new album called You Are What You Pretend To Be,

1.) Dogs At The Door – Milton Busker
2.) I’d Hate To Be Me – Queen Tangerine
3.) Alone In The Night – Andriana Chobot
4.) Dogs At The Cafe – Milton Busker

I just had to bookend the set with those two similar songs from Milton’s new album. That is another great song from Andriana’s Cascade EP. Great song from the Austin sisters post Zola Turn band. OK, let’s play the next song on Giant Places.

5.) Gunslinger – Lendway
6.) Sometime Next Week – 1881
7.) Grass Is Always Greener – Phil Yates & The Affiliates
8.) Jenny – Villanelles

Villanelles played a killer show last night at Nectar’s and opened with that song. Phil and the band just finished up a tour and will play Saturday at The Monkey House. 1881 will be there too, so I will finally get to see them. Hmmmm, Lendway. This next band opened for Villanelles last night.

9.) Cancer – SWALE
10.) Piano In Every Room – gneiss
11.) Into The Light – Great Western
12.) Popular Crowd – Swale

They were so great last night and I can’t wait for some of their new songs to get recorded. Great song from Western. I swear I will play some other Gneiss songs but I just love that one so much I keep wanting to play it. Swale played a nice version of Cancer last night. Next Wednesday Villanelles will have Dino Bravo and The Mountain Says No open the show. This is the song that closed out last night.

13.) Kiss My Grits – Villanelles
14.) Chuck Berry – Dino Bravo VT
15.) The Bomb – The Mountain Says No
16.) It Won’t Stop – Phantom Suns

It was cool to hang out with Ryan Cohen and Jedd Kettler last Saturday after Mountain played at Manhattan Pizza and Pub. Ryan records bands and plays in Phantom. Mountain played a killer version of Bomb last week. I can’t wait for next Wednesday. Bravo always rock. Another cool show that is happening Saturday is at 242 Main and is the 20th anniversary of Big Heavy World. I want to thank James Lockridge for all that he has done for our music community. This is one of the bands that will play at that show.

17.) Thanks For The Memories – Mr. Doubtfire
18.) Monsters Are Due – Doom Service
19.) You Are What You Think – Death World Wide
20.) Yayo – Dirty Blondes

It’s always nice to take a walk around the streets of Burlington with the Blondes and some of their favorite beverages. That was a song from Death’s new album N.E.W. and it rocks nicely. Doom are playing Sunday at Finnegan’s. I only saw this next band a couple of times but I do miss them.

21.) Planning My Funeral – Poxy
22.) Alienation – Black Rabbit
23.) Imaginary – Envy
24.) Comm To Space – ROUGH FRANCIS

That is one of the iconic songs from our music scene. Envy will reunite on July 28th and I’m very excited. Rabbit are playing a benefit for Henry St Deli soon. It’s hot and it’s summer.

25.) Summertime – Peg Tassey MUSIC
26.) The Territory – Hana Zara
27.) Artroom Records – Jenn Karson
28.) Ships – Anais Mitchell
29.) Your Eyes – Forest Gray

Forest played the open mic at Manhattan last night and it was nice to run into him and chat for a bit. Great song from Anais who will play Higher Ground in September. Jenn put out a great album after leaving Zola Turn and that is one of those songs. Hana is just so great, and so is Peg Tassey. I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?

intro

From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington. It’s very dark and almost time for Halloween, so tonight I will play some spooky scary songs. This is the time of year when the line between our world and the world beyond is very thin. I usually invite my friend from beyond, Mr E. Ghoul, to join me, but it’s just a little too early and the line between our worlds is still to far to cross. Yes, he is having an issue with Incarnation Dysfunction. There are several ways ghouls can cross into our world. Let’s begin with one of the more fun vehicles.

1.) Voodoo Camaro – Wide Wail
2.) Crazy Hearse – Barbacoa
3.) With The Dead – Vultures of Cult
4.) Oh My God – Sarah Blacker

Nice tale of angels and devils from Sarah. She lives in Salem, MA but comes up to Vermont to haunt us now and then. Fun, seasonally appropriate song from Vultures. Some souls prefer to travel in the crazy hearse and some the voodoo camaro. It’s just matter of choice. Up next, is one of the scariest concepts that mortals can deal with, sarcasm.

5.) I’m Thrilled – Phil Yates & The Affiliates
6.) Day Of The Dead – Hana Zara
7.) Funeral – Dirtminers
8.) Raising The Dead – Carraway
9.) Ninjas VS Zombies – Phil Yates

Such fun tales of terror from Phil and Carraway. Funeral is a cool song from the Miners. Great song from Hana. Hopefully, she will come back and play for us sometime in the near future. Phil and the band will be at The Skinny Pancake tomorrow and will play a set of Elvis Costello and one of their own. They are one of every band in town who is playing in the next couple of days. This is a great song from a classic Burlington artist.

10.) Graveyard Before Dark – Alice Austin
11.) One More Grave – The Contrarian
12.) Gothic Bloodsucker – Zola Turn
13.) Vampyre – Dave Jarvis Band

Classic from Burlington’s ’90’s. The Zola song is from the first album. Killer tune from Casey Merlin Rae who was a writer and musician in town for many years. So, we’ve heard songs about specific beasts like zombies and vampires, so here is one about the generic category of monsters.

14.) Monsters Are Due – Doom Service
15.) Monsters – Cold Sweat
16.) A Place Both Beautiful And Strange – Vultures Of Cult
17.) Demon Moon – Crazyhearse

Killer doom and gloom song from hearse. I love the moody instrumental from Cult. Sweat make the point that monsters don’t have to be supernatural. Great new Doom song. Let’s now turn our sights to magic for a song recorded at the Radio Bean

18.) I Put A Spell On You – Marco Benevento and Kat Wright
19.) Devil – farm
20.) The Death Of Tim Lewis (poem read over the end of Devil and beginning of Devil Knows) – Tim Lewis
21.) Devil Knows My Name – Great Western

Killer version of their new song recorded live at Nectar’s. Great song by Farm about the struggles in life. Kat Wright & The Indomitable Soul Band will be at Nectar’s on Saturday. This song is about a bar that burned down and people died and their ghosts still reside.

22.) Black Cat – Black Rabbit
23.) Ghostified – Persian Claws
24.) Killing Ghosts – Better Things
25.) Ghost Train – Jerichovox

I love the spooky sound of that song. Ghoul called me and let me know some ghosts prefer to take the train to the other side, not just a car. That one is dedicated to him. Killer song from Better. Great rocker from Persian. This next band weren’t around long but played some solid shows.

26.) Planning My Funeral – Poxy
27.) Space Weed Zombies (live) – Wave of the Future
28.) JC And The Beast – The Mountain Says No
29.) Children Of The Grave – Jesus Christ and the Hallucinogenic Allstars

Killer cover of the Sabbath song from the Saratoga NY band who come to town now and then. Mountain and Wave will play at Finnegan’s tomorrow at 10. I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town, and that it didn’t scare you too much. Goodbye. Sayonara.

30.) Sayonara – Black Rabbit

I just got back from my local music radio show on internet only WBKM.org. It had a swing at the beginning then rocked through the end.

Song before: Distant Early Warning – Rush

promo

intro

From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds of Burlington. Life in Burlington has seen a ton of rain and lots of sunny beautiful days, or parts of days. This is a song from the early 2000’s from a band from Rutland. This song has been playing in my head a lot lately, so now I’m going to play it for you. This is If I Go by Will on WBKM and this is Burlington’s Kind of Music.

1.) If I Go – Will
2.) Waiting For You – Swale
3.) Think I’ll Go – Great Western
4.) Precious Time – The Cush

The Cush built their first album in Texas then moved to Vermont for a few years. I saw as many shows as I could and that is such a great song. Killer song from Western. Hopefully, they have new stuff coming soon. That’s such a fun Swale song and sounded as good coming out of the Will song as I hoped. This next singer is playing this weekend in Hinesburgh at the Northern Sun Music Festival with a bass player and drummer. I bet it will rock.

5.) Scattered Birds – Aaron Flinn
6.) Einstein-Rosen Bridge – Jeremy Gilchrist
7.) The Whole – Milton Busker
8.) I Forgot – Maryse Smith

Maryse Smith is playing at Signal Kitchen tomorrow. What a great song. I have not caught up with Milton in a while, but hope to soon. Cool lyrics that make you think from Jeremy. Hopefully, I will get to see Aaron and his band really rock sometime soon. Like the first song in the set tonight, this song has been going through my head a lot lately.

9.) The Territory – Hana Zara
10.) Let It Shine – Rachel Brown
11.) Sunflower Street – David L. Jarvis
12.) In The Rain – Plan B

It’s been raining like crazy lately and was supposed to rain today. No sign of it yet, it’s really been a beautiful day. I’ve always loved that Dave song. Rachel used to unleash her killer voice in this town a lot. OK, it’s time for the next song on JV, the album I’m playing all the way through, song after song, week after week. It will be released July 27 when they play The Monkey House.

13.) Iron And Metal – The Mountain Says No
14.) Bomb – Envy
15.) Original Original – Black Rabbit
16.) Weapons Factory – The Wards

Classic song from the band that lead the punk wave in Burlington back in the ’80’s. Killer new Rabbit song! Killer classic from Envy. Sean Toohey and Ann Mindell who played in that band are in a new band called The Nancy Druids. Definitely check them out when they play Radio Bean a couple of Monday’s from now. Hmmm, Mountain. OK, let’s keep on playing some recent Burlington punk music.

17.) Planning My Funeral – Poxy
18.) Black Oil – Doom Service
19.) Asphyxia – Better Things
20.) Blue Lights – As We Were
21.) MSP2 – ROUGH FRANCIS

If you want a heavy rock band, you could not do better than Rough Francis. They are at Higher Ground tonight opening for Bad Religion. As play it fast and hard and fun and I’ve loved the couple of times I’ve seen them. Better keep writing music and playing shows and I cant’ wait to see where they go next. Doom always rock hard. I miss Poxy. This next artist used to play all the time in Burlington. She’s coming back for a visit. Will she play a show? I hope so.

22.) Vicarious – Alice Austin
22.) Sequoia II – Binger
23.) These Are Some Things – When Particles Collide
24.) Stop – REDadmirial

I’ve got to get out and see admiral. They are playing the Northern Sun Music Festival too, but I have to work on Saturday and Sunday I’m meeting Mom and Dad and Ken for a Father’s Day lunch then heading to Montreal to see Rush with Ken. Killer song from Particles who are on the road now. Go check them out! Cool song form Binger. It’s almost the Solstice and the longest day of the year. It makes me feel like this song.

25.) These Summer Nights – Sarah Blacker
26.) Don’t Cough Me Out – Slowdim
27.) Can’t Feel It – Vetica
28.) Relief – Death World Wide

Killer song from the bands new album N.E.W. Love that Vetica song. Killer song from Slowdim. I’d love someone to bring that Boston band to town. Sarah’s on the road. Check her out if she comes to your town! I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?

Yesterday was the 30th anniversary of the release of Misplaced Childhood, so the songs after were: Childhood’s End->White Feather (live) – Fish

After wrapping up the show, the rain came. It was a very wet walk home with shifting winds. The umbrella helped, but it was a very wet walk.

I just got back from my local music radio show on Wbkm Dot Org. I played a lot of different music from a lot of different times, and talked a bit about those who have left us recently, either for natural or unjust causes.

Song before: Police On My Back – The Clash

promo

intro

From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington. It’s getting cool in the Champlain Valley but the music is still hot. I just saw two punk trios at 242 Twofourtwo Main, 5 girls and 1 guy. It’s great that girls are rocking today, but they did back in the ’90’s too. Here is the next song from Ninja Jane on WBKM and this is Burlington’s Kind Of Music.

1.) Chop Wood/Carry Water – Zola Turn
2.Rock And Roll Is My Weapon – Ninja Custodian
3.) Flux Capacitor – Wave of the Future

Another great song from Wave’s new EP. Wave are playing Nectar’s on Saturday, after the ROUGH FRANCIS, Waylon Speed boat cruise. Wave are playing with Burning Monk and The Mountain Says No, I’m very psyched. Love the Ninja song and Zola have always been a favorite. This next band just played at The Monkey House this evening, but the timing was bad and I could not be there. I bet they played this one

4.) A Different Machine – Elephants of Scotland
5.) Plenty Hands – Parmaga
6.) Ships – Anais Mitchell

I just got the Anais album Young Man In America and loved Ships immediately. Same with the Parmaga EP. Up next is a song that I keep finding myself humming.

7.) Our Work Is Never Done – PossumHaw
8.) Pretty Little Things – Maryse Smith
9.) People Get Ready – Kip Meaker Trio
10.) Mystery Blues – Zoot Wilson

Zoot was a legend when I was learning about music in Burlington. Kip was one of the greats, and sadly, just passed away. I’ve had a lot of Maryse songs running through my head since her show at The Precipice: A Vermont Music Festival. The other album I just picked up is Crown Pilot.

11.) Julianne Wait – Lowell Thompson and Crown Pilot
12.) Make Me See Stars – The Lonestar Chain
13.) Coming Down Again – Waylon Speed
14.) Staring Out The Window – Rough Francis

That’s going to be a heck of a show on the boat with both Waylon and RF. I have to work late enough that I don’t think I will quite make it, but will see. Great song by Burette Douglas and the gang, and that’s a pretty solid backing band with Lowell. Here’s another song from the new Crazyhearse album. It features Rebecca Rogers, who is no longer in jail in Cleveland.

15.) A Bottle Of Whiskey Later – Crazyhearse
16.) Toe Jam – The Toes
17.) Paper Train – David L. Jarvis
18.) New Age Woman – Pinhead

That was a couple of classics. Pinhead played in the ’80’s and Dave in the ’90’s. The Toes are always crazy fun. They are playing a fundraiser for the Psychedelicatessen. I stopped by, around 11:25, but the guy was saying they would have some quieter acts on, so I assumed I missed them. I’m loving the new Crazyhearse. This next band played the Monkey House tonight too, and I missed them too.

19.) Might As Well Settle – Phil Yates and the Affiliates
20.) Circumstance – Tokyo Storm Warning
21.) Finder – Madelines
22.) The Fool – Poxy
23.) Shut Up – Gorgon

Gorgon and Poxy played a couple of beautiful sets at 242 Main. I had just enough time to check them out before this show. Madelines and Tokyo were great loud rock bands from the ’90’s. Let’s keep the rock going.

24.) Mad Mary Jones – THE VACANT LOTS
25.) Basalt Anchor – Vedora
26.) You Can Love If You Want To – Peg Tassey MUSIC
27) Extended Werewolf – farm

There’s only so much time indeed. Whether if’s people like Kip and Lauren Bacall who lived full lives or Robin Williams or the completely senseless killing of Michael Brown, we only have a limited amount of time. I like listening to music, like what Vedora have shared with the world, and following Peg Tassey‘s advice and choosing to love. I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?

I just got back from my local music radio show on internet only WBKM.ORG. It started rocking, went a little bluesy, rocked really hard, and fast, then caught a groove for a bit.

Song before: Outer Space – Ace Frehley

intro

From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington. It’s that in between time when the new flowers and music are not quite out. They will be soon, but while we wait, let’s got back a bit to Psych For Sore Eyes. This is 6:00am by THE VACANT LOTS on WBKM, and this is Burlington’s Kind Of Music.

1.) 6:00am – The Vacant Lots
2.) Don’t Cough Me Out – Slowdim
3.) The Other Room – Elephants of Scotland

Another great song from Elephants and their new album Execute and Breathe. My friend Meghan Chiampa posted the Slowdim song today and I really liked it. I bought it and wanted to play it. Cool song from the Lots. They have a new album coming soon. That was from the last EP. Tomorrow I’m going to see these three bands at Higher Ground

4.) The Bet – The Sideshow Tragedy
5.) Self Divide – Waylon Speed
6.) Ruffians – ROUGH FRANCIS

Great guitar work by Sideshow. It’s going to be a great show tomorrow. Now it’s time for the next song on Dancing With The Big Guy.

7.) Kentucky Gunman Tells Co-worker – Ninja Custodian
8.) Shut Up – Gorgon
9.) Planning My Funeral – Poxy

Poxy broke up but are reuniting to play a women’s punk rock show in August. Gorgon will be there too. They just came back from a tour. OK, sometimes we like short hard rock songs. Sometimes we like bands to stretch out a little.

10.) Dannemora->Playing Patterns->Mold pt. 2 – Seth Yacovone Band

Man that guy can play guitar! I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?
