Song before: Winter – Tori Amos
intro
From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds of Burlington. Let’s begin with a lovely song about the end of summer.
That’s the last song from the Grim Work album. I’ll have to find a new one to play all the way through starting next week. What a great album. Cool songs from Aaron, Dave and Lake. It’s cold. No reason to fight it. Let’s embrace it, but first, let’s head over to Robot Dog Studio for a hot performance.
5.) Hawks – Happy Spangler
6.) Bit O Honey – Happy Spangler
7.) Golden Cadillac = Happy Spangler
8.) Never Let Me Go – Happy Spangler
Thanks Ryan Cohen for literally making everything sound so great. Thanks to Sam Mark for helping with the setup and tear down. Thanks Phoebe Zorn and Chrusty Barnacles for the video work. Special thanks to the band for a great performance and the surprise addition of Samara Lark Brown and Aya Inoue on backing vocals. OK, let’s dive back into winter.
Cool song from the lovely band. Id has references to Orion, who always brings winter. Cool songs from Near and Ninja. OK, let’s keep going.
13.) Cold Water Morning – Satori Bob
14.) Winter Is Finally Here – The Smittens
15.) Winter Snow – The Zi Trees
16.) Winter Blues – The Red Newts
That was recorded live at Nectar’s. I haven’t caught up with Zi for a while but saw them play a nice show last summer. Lovely song from Smittens. Bob used to play around town many years ago. OK, let’s play a band from the Boston area.
Go out, have drinks, embrace winter, I like that idea from Rabbit. Cool wish from Apartment. I think Junk is an Urian Hackney band. Cool flow to that music. Guthrie comes to town often. OK, it’s definitely frosty out there.
Cool song from Seth. I love the countdown in the Rabbit song. It sure seems that way Suburban. Lovely song from Doubt and smoking rocker from Miku. Well, I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?

Song before: Bloodletting (The Vampire Song) – Concrete Blonde
intro
From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington. The skies are gray, the air is cold and the leaves are falling from the trees. Summer is gone and Halloween is almost upon us. Usually, Mr E. Ghoul crosses over to join us, but the veil is still too strong, being so many days away. I, alone, will guide you through the terror that is the Vermont music scene. Let’s begin with a song about the dead.
Thank you for reminding us of our mortality Troy. I dug up that ancient song from Chin. Chilling thought from Sofa and beautifully disturbing song from David and the band. OK, let’s get a little magical.
Is there anything scarier than the devil knowing your name? Hmm, apparently the gators prefer to celebrate their monsters. Nice attempt to outrun the devil Farm. That was a lovely spell concocted one night at Radio Bean by the dynamic duo. Here is another song that I found deeply buried.
Such a scary song from Alice. Hana speaks of how the veil between the living and the dead is understood down south. Terrifying imagery from Sarah and a lovely oldie from Dave. Care to jam with some monsters?
Vermont is full of dark places, and the shadows of the full moon only make them more terrifying. I fear the Vultures may have gotten too close to their song. Disturbing song from the Hen and a scary stream of monsters for the Dead. Speaking of death.
I hope you survived the terror of being alone, barely safe, wondering what lies beyond the door. Swillbillie are wise to make us aware of the terror wrought by chickens. Halloween was made for cats. OK, it’s time to panic.
Lovely song about zombies dancing. Terror filled song by the Claws. Phil sings of the battle between life and death and Miku rightly advises panic. This next soul seems to be trying to give up supernatural ways. Silly human.
You can always count on a ghost, even if Aaron disagrees. Lovely songs of demons from Crazy and Superior. Even one so contrary understands the power of the grave. Well, I hope you were not too scared listening to the terrifying music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?

Song before: Lying Eyes – The Eagles
intro
From our small city to the great big world, these are the sounds of music. I missed you last week. I was on vacation and saw and bought a ton of music. Let’s begin with an artist I saw last Thursday at Ruach HaMaqom Synagogue.
Trees are so cool. I caught them Thursday at Radio Bean. I saw Julia Beerworth play with Josh Glass a couple of weeks ago and loved her voice and guitar playing. Adrienne rocked the electric banjo at the synagogue. More about the band that headlined the night soon. OK, let’s head over to Robot Dog Studio for an interview and live performance by Ivamae.
Wow, she is so amazing. Thanks to Ryan Cohen for making the sound so great and to Phoebe Zorn for the camera work. Check out the video for Underheard on YouTube. OK, so last Thursday the mighty Julia Caesar released their album Heavy Flow at the synagogue. Here is a song from it. There will be more later.
Clever and Lucy played amazing shows at ArtsRiot a week ago Sunday. Anachronist played a great version of that one the Friday before at the Tarrant Gallery by The Flynn. Julia are just amazing. OK, this next artist visited town once and then morphed into a new band. I’m hoping for a return trip soon.
Yet another great Julia song. Particles could be anywhere. I thought that song would fit well in that set. Cool song from Miku’s album It’s A Fairy Tale, and a lovely song form Piqued. This next artist is lighting Vermont media on fire with their tour to support local libraries.
That’s the next song from the album I’m playing all the way through, song after song, week after week. I love the cosmic nature of that one. Cool song from Miku that we recorded a few weeks back at Robot Dog Studio. Humble finally released that song that is so fun, so I had to get it on the air. Great song from David. OK, let’s keep rocking.
BBS came over from Italy and played a show at The Monkey House that I’m still reeling from. Chapel, Tetsou, and Grand played a killer show at Nectar’s a week ago Monday and all of those songs were played. Great new song from Francis! OK, let’s ease up a bit and jam out.
I just had to do the Julia Julius thing. I caught a couple of songs from Brayden Patrick Baird from the Torys last Friday. Binger are everywhere but will come back to us soon.
Well, I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?

Song before: Humble Stance – Saga
intro
From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington. I love to play this first song around this time of year.
It was great to see the Druids Tuesday night at Light Club Lamp Shop. Finder is a classic from the ’90’s. Such great songs from Ninja and Telephone. OK, let’s play the next song on Engine.
Seth and the band are amazing and that’s such a great song. I love the build in Wizard. Nice epic from Speed and great song from Kelly. Telephone and the Druids are 3/4ths of Envy so let’s play one of their songs.
When isn’t it time to save the world? Great song from Ruckzuck that makes me think of all of the flowers blooming everywhere. David and the band will be all over Vermont this summer supporting local libraries. Cool song from Mal. If you think having your singer put up a video of her singing Happy Birthday to me will get your song played, you are correct. Thanks Cooie DeFrancesco! Love your band. We started off with QT who evolved out of Zola Turn. OK, here is the next song on Engine.

My friend Ted Jacobites works on ships all over the world. This morning he sent a picture from a port in Lithuania so I had to play the Hana song. Cricket are so lovely. Great songs from Kat and Madaila. It’s getting warm and the days are getting longer and it’s time to celebrate.

Song before Changes – David Bowie
intro
From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington. I want to begin by welcoming Mike Luoma to WBKM. It was fun to chat with him earlier today. He’s helping with the programming and asked me to put together a file with some of the greatest local songs. I put 178 songs into it, but need to add more. Here are four of them.
Sarah’s from Massachusetts but visits us often. I wanted one of her songs to highlight all of the New England bands who come to town a lot. Telephone grew out of the legendary local band Envy. That song is so sweet. 1881 are just amazing. Let’s Whisper always fill my heart with smiles. OK, here’s a treat for us all. Let’s head over to Robot Dog Studio for some live music from a wonderful band.

Let’s begin with Kelly Ravin who’s album Engine is the one I’m playing all the way through, song after song, week after week.
The girls will rock the Rotary stage in the middle of it all on Friday night. Barbacoa and Lowell will be on the main stage. Kelly will be at McKee’s. These next bands will play Friday night too.
The Breaks will be at Water Works on Friday. Binger will be at Four Quarters Brewing. Carol will be at Scout & Co and Wren will be at Lucky Cloud. These next two bands will play Friday night at Last Stop Sorts Bar.
