Ken, Steve, and Jean at the A&W in Middlebury VT pic by Tim Lewis

How was your day? Mine was beautiful in a way that I could barely handle. I got up and watched a little of the Mueller hearings, then drove to Shelburne. I met up with my brother Ken and his friend Steve and drove to A&W in Middlebury after meeting up with mom’s cousin Jean, which is likely redundant because where else is there an A&W? Lunch was nice, the conversation was delightful, and we ended up going home with a blueberry pie. On the way way down we stopped at Mom and Dad’s graves in New Haven.

I dropped Ken and Steve in Shelburne, then knocked out one of those tasks that I’d needed to do forever. I drove home, settled for 45 minutes, or so, then took the lovely walk to ArtsRiot. I was there to represent WBKM at the new flavors non-dairy launch of several new Ben & Jerry’s succulent creations. As my friend Susan from the Cheese Outlet used to say, yum city in a big phat way. (If you get it, that is a completely appropriate response, and a hysterical joke). I enjoyed the free non-dairy drink and then switched to gin and tonics, because if the band is rocking it, and you’re not paying admission, you have to pay the bar. Right?? The cooking demo was cool and fun, but when they tossed it to The High Breaks I was in heaven. They strolled through several super-cool songs about breaking an ankle on a non-dairy biscuit beach while the dark and stormy seas threatened to sweep us away,

An announcement followed Several beautiful humans identified as refugees and seemed happy to have a chance to join our community and everyone in attendance seemed to want them to join our community. Each of the eight, or so, people who spoke sounded so delightful. Maybe it’s me. I want everyone to find their light and shine it on our planet. Is that too much to ask? Considering today, I think that’s a reasonable ask.

They introduced the next band as Surf Sabbath, and suddenly we were surfing to War Pigs. They kicked out Tequila, dropped it into a full Miserlou, then tequila’d it out. again They got meaty for Hot Dog, began another original and dropped it into Wipe Out. They were as brilliant as always.

I headed out and took the lovely walk home. OK, in the middle of Church St I wondered who that accordion busker was, but when I heard the voice, I stopped in my tracks and leaned into the nearest tree. Adrienne Cooper Smith played her heart out and I loved every note that I caught. Life bodes well for her career. All the adults just walked on by. All the kids turned their heads to listen.

I should have made a pit stop at ArtsRiot but walked away anyway. The extra time made a real pit stop necessary. I walked into the OP, found relief, ordered a drink and chatted with Josh Shedaker and his lovely wife. I learned a tiny bit more about our amazing Burlington music scene, then was done and walked home.

I made it all the way to Radio Bean when a lovely sound Sucked me in. I was lucky enough to hear 4-5 songs from the amazing Ryan Ober. He was as enchanting as always.

I took the lovely walk home and made it all the way to the Light Club Lamp Shop. I saw that Tom Pearo and his band were on. I settled in and let their lovely sound flow over me. I’d been wanting a good Pearoing for a while and this lusciously fit the bill. I hung out until their lovely last note, then really took the lovely walk home and began typing this.

How was your day?
(yes, I’m totally aware of all the staggering music that I missed tonight. I caught what I could.)

Oh, and it was nice to hear Luke Adam play. What a day?
