Coming soon

Tonight’s local music radio show on WBKM.ORG will run from 9-11pm Eastern time Thursday July 18. You can stream it from the website or here: WBKM. It will go as follows.

Song before: Countdown – Rush

From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington. Saturday will mark 50 years since humans first went to the moon, and will also be a great day to celebrate the life of one of Burlington’s favorite stars. There will be many events celebrating the life of Matthew Thorsen. Keep your eyes open. OK, let’s begin tonight with a piece of advice that may seem counterintuitive.

1.) Don’t Listen To Your Heart – Matt Saraca and John Townsend
2.) Burdens Down – Cricket Blue
3.) Magnolias – Troy Millette Music
4.) Something That’s Never Been Done Before – Jason Baker

That’s such a fun song from Jason. Troy writes and sings some beautiful songs and that is one of them. That’s the last song from Cricket’s amazing album Serotinalia. I’ll have to find a new album to being playing next week. Your heart represents your emotional side and it’s best to be sure it’s in a good place before using it to make major decisions. OK, I’ve got a real treat for you. Let’s head over to Robot Dog Studio.

5.) The Laundry Song – Bethany Conner Music
6.) I Miss You – Bethany Conner
7.) Manhattan – Bethany Conner
8.) Clearer – Bethany Conner

I really want to thank Bethany for singing and playing those lovely songs. Thanks Greg Conner for helping out and huge thanks to Ryan Cohen for hosting, recording, mixing and filming the show. OK, let’s keep on rocking.

9.) Someone Get Me A Brown Paper Bag – Jesse Taylor Band
10.) Pass Me Not, O Gentle Savior – Hallowell
11.) Repetition – All The Time Always
12.) Sunny Skies – Be•er

It’s summer and that song seems so appropriate. Always are coming to town and playing a show at Light Club Lamp Shop tomorrow, so stop by if you like that song. That’s a pretty catchy song from one of our local ministers. Lovely song about life from Jesse. OK, this next band just released an album called This Day In Age. I played a couple of songs last week and here’s another.

13.) He Is Risen And Appears On Toast – Sad Turtle
14.) Makarov – James and the Giant Sleep
15.) Bacalao Con Pan – Mal Maïz
16.) Energy – The Steph Pappas Experience

That’s such a cool song from Steph. That one from Maiz just rocks. I haven’t played Sleep for a while and wanted to pull it out again. Turtle are so amazing. OK, let’s keep rocking.

17.) Teenage Mother Earth – The Red Telephone
18.) Forgiveness Is For The Weekend – Humble Hero
19.) All I Want – The Silent Mile
20.) Rising On->Bridge Out – Blowtorch

That’s a couple of fun rockers from Blowtorch. I wanted to pull out the new Silent Mile song again. I hope you liked it. Hero just released a new EP called The Harper Sessions and that is one of the songs. That’s such a classic from Telephone. OK, this next band are from Boston but have a cool local connection.

21.) Robotrippin’ – Death Pesos
22.) Bitchcraft – Jessica Rabbit Syndrome
23.) Inept Tune – The Wet Ones
24.) Dragonfly – Barbacoa

It”s summer and dragonflies are everywhere. So, Amy Wild plays in Wet and Rabbit with Ali Evans and Pete Schluter, and Pete also plays in Pesos, so I thought that would be a fun set. OK, you can likely find this next band at a Vermont library near you.

25.) Hope In The Dark – David Rosane & The Zookeepers
26.) This Ain’t No Love Song – The Red Newts
27.) Gone Gone Gone – Radio Underground
28.) Can The Call Go Through? – Seth Yacovone Band

I thought that would be a great way to rock the show to a close. That is a live from Robot Dog Studio version of the Radio Underground song. If you like it, you can get it, and the other three songs from that session, on Bandcamp now. That’s a brand new song from the Newts. It looks like they are releasing songs one at a time. New one next week? It’s so great that the Zookeepers are helping and highlighting our local libraries. Well, I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?
