intro

From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington. At work, we have a pond, and this week was the first time this year I’ve seen a dragonfly.

1.) Dragonfly – Barbacoa
2.) Lifetime – Radio Underground
3.) Humble Pie – Smokestack Lightning
4.) Defensive Roofie – Jessica Rabbit Syndrome

That’s a cool song about a horrible subject. Women have to be very careful they don’t get drugged and abused, and the idea of knocking out the guy before he can hurt anyone is intriguing. That’s a cool rock song from Smokestack. Lifetime has been stuck in my head lately, so I thought I’d try and get it stuck in yours. Great song from Barbacoa, and summer is nearly here. OK, let’s head over to Robot Dog Studio for a powerful music performance and a fun interview.

5.) Drown – Green Chapel
6.) Thea – Green Chapel
7.) Hate Again – Green Chapel
9.) War Maker – Green Chapel

Thanks Ryan Cohen for making us sound so great and thanks for the film work Phoebe Eliza and Christian James. Special Thanks to Green Chapel for that amazing performance. OK, here’s a song about a boating disaster.

10.) Empress Of Ireland – Thompson Gunner
11.) New Orleans Is Sinking – The Tragically Hip
12.) Sink Of Swim – The High Breaks
13.) Ships – Anais Mitchell

That’s a great song from an amazing performer. The Breaks are pretty great too. The Hip song was recorded on Lake Champlain many years ago and the Gunner song was recorded at Nectar’s. OK, last week I played the last song on the New Siberians album so I have to start a new one, though I think it’s already started. Lest week I played the first two songs on Serotinalia, so let’s dive into number three then play the rest of the album over the next few weeks.

14.) June – Cricket Blue
15.) You’re Not Listening – Forest Grey
16.) Avalon – Split Tongue Crow
17.) Bad Oasis – farm

That’s such a great song. I love the Crow song and hope they are working on new material. That’s a cool song about wondering about God from Forest and a lovely song from Cricket. Their new album is getting great reviews. Ben Maddox from Farm and The Mountain Says No just put out an album of mellow music. Let’s take a listen.

18.) Invocation – Hill Wizard
19.) Empty Frequency – Rue M.
20.) Last Love – Myra Flynn Music
21.) You – Slingshot Dakota
22.) Little French Earthquakes – Phil Yates & The Affiliates
23.) Give It Up To The Night – Bad Smell

That’s such a fun song from Smell. I miss how the Affiliates used to rock us all the time. I wanted to go back to the brilliant Break album from Slingshot. Myra has a show coming up at the Shelburne Vineyard soon. Rue M are always amazing, though if you need a spectacle of a show this weekend, check out Spielpalast Cabaret. Cool flowing music from the Wizard. Well, I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?
