Tonight’s local music radio show on WBKM.ORG will run from 9-11pm US Eastern time Thursday January 3rd. You can stream it from the website or here: WBKM It will go as follows.

Song before: Heaven – Talking Heads

From our small city to the great big world, these are the sounds of music. It’s been a rough year for loosing members of the Burlington community, but now 2018 is gone and 2019 is here. Let’s begin with a song about The Bhopal disaster that happened in India many years ago.

1.) Happy New Year – Ninja Custodian
2.) Super Powers – The Dead Shakers
3.) Intro/May – Adrienne Cooper Smith
4.) The Worst Part – Bethany Conner Music

That’s a lovely song from Bethany, who has been playing shows with Troy Millette lately. The song from Adrienne is from the last Robot Dog session from last year. WBKM replayed all of the sessions over New Year’s Eve and day, and it was fun to hear them again. Adrienne’s performance was so amazing. Cool song from the Shakers. Life’s been a bit rough lately and we all need to shine our super powers a little extra bright now. You can catch them tomorrow at Nectar’s. Cool song from Ninja. OK, let’s head on over to Robot Dog Studio for another cool live performance.

5.) Magnolias – Troy Millette Music
6.) Ghosts Of What We Used To Be – Troy Millette
7.) Anna Marie – Troy Millette
8.) Runaway – Troy Millette

What a great performance by Troy. Thanks to Ryan Cohen for making it sound so great, and thanks to Phoebe Zorn and Chrusty Barnacles for the video work on Magnolias. It is on YouTube now. OK, here is the next song on the Grim Work album.

9.) Jesus In Chains – Milton Busker and the Grim Work
10.) Calling Me Names – Eoin Noonan (Split Tongue Crow)
11.) We’re Finally Here – Phil Yates & The Affiliates (Chicago)
12.) Somebody Get Me A Brown Paper Bag – Jesse Taylor

Sometimes life makes you want to hide away, but following Jesse’s advice to push yourself out the door sounds great. Cool new song from Phil. I haven’t heard much from Crow for a while so it was great to get the new Eoin song. He’s such a cool singer. Great song from Milton. OK, this band have been rocking central Vermont for a couple of years.

13.) HILWYOD – The Ulloo
14.) Hollywood – Humble Hero
15.) Hollywood – Lendway
16.) What’s In California? – Josh Glass

I though that would be a fun set. It was inspired by the Ulloo song. Josh is always great. That’s a classic from Lendway. Humble Hero rock their version hard. OK, it’s been a rough couple of weeks for local Vermont legends. Let’s honor two of the best in this next set.

17.) The Secret Life Of Ann Landers – Josh Bridgman and Jason Cooley
18.) The Adventure Of Joe The Insect Part 1 – Josh Bridgman and Jason Cooley
19.) Tiny Bites – Josh Bridgman and Jason Cooley
20.) Time Off – Josh Bridgman and Jason Cooley
21.) Beercan – Josh Bridgman and Jason Cooley
22.) The Adventure Of Joe The Insect Part 2 – Josh Bridgman and Jason Cooley
23.) A Day In the Life Of James Bond – Josh Bridgman and Jason Cooley
24.) The Cockroach – Josh Bridgman and Jason Cooley
25.) In Heaven – Josh Bridgman and Jason Cooley
26.) O Ignee Spiritus (Oh Fiery Spirit) – Amerykanka
27.) Weapons Factory – The Wards with the Dirty Blondes
28.) Oh Dirty Blondes – Dirty Blondes
29.) Scorned Woman – Dirty Blondes
30.) Yayo – Dirty Blondes
31.) Ornan – Dirty Blondes

I mostly knew Matthew Thorsen from hanging out at Dirty Blondes shows. We chatted a lot over the years and I always loved his gentle spirit. His passing is a huge loss for our community. The same is true for Josh Bridgman. He was a playwright and a smart genuine person that most everyone in town knew. I’m glad he left an album of spoken word art and music. Our lives are better for having those two lovely crazy people in it. I thought the piece about fiery spirits might make a nice transition. OK, here’s a brand new song from a cool band.

32.) Voyager – Smokestack Lightning
33.) Jules Rosen and Joe Steel – Brave the Vertigo

Nice rockers from Vertigo and Smokestack. Well, I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?
