I had a great time seeing music last Saturday at Nectar’s. I had been trying to shake a cold for a couple of weeks and made Friday a quiet night at home. I worked 9:30-6 on Saturday and still didn’t feel so great but saw that Forest Gray was opening A-Dog day with a 7-7:30 set. I have a huge amount of respect for Andy Williams and the music and love that he put into our community. I think it’s cool that there is a whole day dedicated to him where lots of DJ’s do their thing, even if I’m more into seeing bands play.

I got going a little late and walked into the club around 7:05 and Forest was on stage. There is something quite compelling about his quirky nature and songs that keeps me coming back. He played a song about waking up in the morning and not recognizing himself in the mirror. He played a song about finding a lover and a four leaf clover that had an interesting dueling reference. He played a song about having something to say to the Lord but not being sure that anyone was listening. He played a song about green aliens and one about vaping all night. He closed with a song about how we are all immigrants who’s refrain was bury me at wounded knee.

I said a quick hello then sailed up the packed Church St and headed for home.
