intro

From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington. It finally snowed and got a little cold, but my heart is nice and warm after seeing Bernie Sanders do so well in New Hampshire this week. He has inspired a lot of people, including several of our wonderful local musicians. Recently, several of them got together to record one of the songs Bernie recorded for his album, so many years ago. Tonight let’s begin with Kat Wright, Bob Wagner, Marie Claire Johnson, Kelly Ravin, and many others doing a classic in honor of Bernie.

1.) This Land Is Your Land – VT artists
2.) Oh Freedom – Bernie Sanders and 30 VT Artists
3.) The Original Original – Black Rabbit

That is the next song on their wonderful album Red Flannel Hash. I’m working my way through that album song by song, week by week. Original is such a fun rocker. I had to go back and play one of the Bernie classics and put it back to back with the new Bernie classic. Just listening to the performances, we are truly blessed in Burlington, and have been for a long time. You can just feel the love flowing out of Land. OK, for the rest of the show tonight we are going to rock out. I just got a copy of the 8th WBKM birthday party show that Seth Yacovone played for us at Nectar’s on November 12, 2015. They called themselves Real Old & Insane Donkey and played all Neil Young songs, Here it is in its entirety.

4.) Hey Hey My My
5.) Powderfinger
6.) Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere
7.) Down By The River
8.) Sedan Delivery
9.) Barstool Blues
10.) Cortez The Killer
11.) Piece Of Crap

13.) Cinnamon Girl
14.) Cowgirl In The Sand
15.) Rocking In The Free World
16.) Like A Hurricane

I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we? Ta ta.

intro

From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington. Let’s begin tonight by thinking about the cosmos and our place in it and what makes us different and what makes us the same.

1.) The Same Stars – Zola Turn
2.) Sequoia 3 – Binger
3.) Brothers And Sisters – Joe Adler

I love the imagery in that song. It’s nice to look up at the stars and realize that we all look at the wold from the perspective of one person going through it, which lets you understand how similar we all really are. I think all of those songs made that point in different ways. There is lots of music going on tomorrow and I will miss most of it since I have a ticket to go see Intergalactic Nemesis at the Flynn with my brother. If I wasn’t doing that, I’d likely go see these next two bands at the Monkey House.

4.) Could You Be The One? – Phil Yates and the Affiliates
5.) Goner – REDadmiral
6.) Honor Of The Rainbows parts 1 & 2 – Arc Iris

Arc Iris are playing at Light Club Lamp Shop tomorrow. They are pretty incredible and always put on a stunning show. This next song is a new one that has me hooked.

7.) Swing The Gavel – Elephants Of Scotland
8.) Giving Up The Ghost – Aaron Flinn
9.) Paper Tiger – Queen Tangerine

That was from a demo ep that came out before their one and only album. Great song from Aaron, who is a great guy and an amazing guitar player. Great new Elephants song! This next song is a new one that has me hooked.

10.) The Night Syd Barrett Died – Colin Nicholas Clary
11.) Mine All Mine – Cave Bees
12.) We’re Closed – Blue Button
13.) Bloodboy – Barbacoa

That was a fun cover of the Envy song by Barbacoa. Fun rocker from BB. I love the video for that one, which is shot at the OP. The Colin song has references to the Cave Bees and an alligator, so I had to play the Bees song. OK, here is the next song from Red Flannel Hash.

14.) Rotten Egg – Black Rabbit
15.) Good Old Days – Screaming Broccoli
16.) Finally Found The One – When Particles Collide
17.) Mad Mary Jones – The Vacant Lots

Great song from the Lots who are headed to Europe again soon. Great song from Particles who come visit us from time to time. Classic rocker from Broccoli. This next song is a new and heavy and really cool song.

18.) Pastoral – Vultures Of Cult

That was pretty amazing. I love the way it steadily gets more intense. OK, let’s play some shorter songs, but still keep rocking.

19.) Can’t Feel It – Vetica
20.) Domestic Tranquility – The Toes
21.) Seeds And Stems – The New Siberians
22.) Get Your Own Bag – The Fags

Great song from the classic punk rockers. Solid rocker from the Siberians. The Toes are so wonderful, you have to experience them live to really appreciate them. Great song from Vetica. OK, there is time for a couple of more songs. This next one is from a ’90’s band who broke up, then got back together to make a new album.

23.) My New Mixtape – Eef
24.) Iron And Metal – The Mountain Says No

I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?
