Radio Show 69 Thursday July 3, 2014 9-10pm Eastern US Time WBKM.ORG   1 comment

I just got back from the Independence day version of my local music radio show on internet only Wbkm Dot Org.

Song before:

The Star Spangled Banner – Jimi Hendrix

From our small city to the great big world, these are the Sounds Of Burlington. Last Friday I went to see our local minor league baseball team, The Vermont Lakemonsters. To begin the game they had Aram Bedrosian come out and play The Star Spangled Banner on bass. He did a beautiful job. I don’t have a version of him playing it, so listen to one of his songs and imagine. This is Space Opera on WBKM, and this is Burlington’s Kind Of Music.

1.) Space Opera – Aram Bedrosian
2.) In The Rain – Plan B
3.) Soft Fireworks – Swale

Whenever I think of the 4th of July, I hear the line Soft Fireworks, lighting up the sky. Both that and the Plan B song have a nice mellow relaxed feel, which goes nicely with this mellow rainy day. That said, there are fireworks coming soon. This song is not about fireworks, but is about fire.

4.) Black Cat – Black Rabbit
5.) Black and RED – ROUGH FRANCIS
6.) WHITE Lizard – Shark Victim
7.) A New Kind Of BLUE – The Cush

I’ve loved that Cush song forever. That was a fun song from SV, and Rough Francis always rock. I though it would be fun to play with the patriotic color scheme. Up next is the second song from Ninja Jane.

8.) Tastes Like Nothing – Zola Turn
9.) Dead Summer – Thompson Gunner
10.) Fireworks – The Tragically Hip

The Hip are from Canada, but play Burlington so often, they are honorary Vermonters. It’s the hot, humid dead summer, and that’s a killer song by those guys from Rutland. Well, the fireworks are starting soon, so I’m going to duck out to watch them. Here are a couple of songs to take you out. I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town, let’s do it again next week, shall we?

11.) Errol McSquisitor – Elephants of Scotland
12.) Yours Sincerely – Persian Claws

Song after- Big Wedge – Fish

  1. Before the show there was a Lendway promo queued up, so I put in Hollywood by Lendway, Super Sexy Science Party by Wave of the Future, RED House by Jimi Hendrix, WHITE Light White Heat by the Velvet Underground, BLUE Light Shines by Gabrielle Douglas and The Dwellers, then The Star Spangled Banner by Jimi Hendrix.
