Radio Show 21 Thursday July 18, 2013 9-10pm Eastern US Time WBKM.ORG   Leave a comment

I just got back from radio show 21 on WBKM.ORG. If you listened from quarter of 9 to 10:30, you probably knew I was picking the songs.

Song before: Starman – David Bowie

From our small city to the great big world, these are the sounds of Burlington. Last Friday Sarah Emily Blacker came to town to release her new EP Precious Little Things. Whether she plays a large concert hall or an intimate coffee shop, she keeps Pluggin’ Away. Here is the second song on her new EP on WBKM, Burlington’s Kind of Music.

1.) Pluggin’ Away – Sarah Blacker

2.) The River Hymn – The Sweet Remains

3.) Nothing But The Water (II) – Grace Potter and the Nocturnals

It’s been so hot, look for cooling water! Grace started in Vermont and has gotten big. People in bands like The Sweet Remains play in multiple bands, and have day jobs. What a beautiful song about the river. It has been raining a lot, be careful in the rivers. Sarah did a tremendous job at Radio Bean last Friday. Next, we play the last song on The Cush’s masterpiece, New Appreciation For Sunshine.

4.) Last American Right – The Cush

5.) Out On The Oklahoma Plains – Mickey Western and the Radio Clowns

6.) Breathe – Barika

I was checking out the Precipice sampler and loved the breezy flow of Breathe. I know nothing about them but will check them out next weekend at the Precipice. Mickey is playing the Precipice too, and last year, when he played solo, his songs were fun and quirky and I had a good time. This year should be fun too. I hope your enjoyed The Cush album. Next week we will start another album. A former roommate and current co-worker just won at state Scrabble championship and is going to the nationals. Congratulations Jeffrey Nelson. The finals are being held in Las Vegas. This is Ninja Custodian

7.) Las Vegas – Ninja Custodian

8.) Recovery VS Being Recovered – Affinity for Nothing

9.) Falling In And Out Of Sleep

It’s been so humid and 77 degrees in the morning. I’ve been falling in and out of sleep a lot lately. Love that song. Affinity was from a Big Heavy World sampler, and that’s a cool song. The one, the only, Ninja Custodian. The next band started in Burlington but are traveling and playing a lot and are coming back to town on August 8th at Signal Kitchen.

10.) Confusion – The Vacant Lots

11.) Media Boss – The Lindbergh Baby

12.) Lights Low – Will

The show’s over and it’s time to turn the lights down low. Love that Will song. Neither I, nor the band, fully endorse the lyrics in Media Boss, but farce is a great, different angle on life It’s also a cool rock song with lyrics about raining, and it started raining when the song was playing. Can’t wait for the Lots. Lendway are playing Friday, but also a bunch of local artists are doing Bowie songs at the Monkey House that night too. I may have to go Bowie. I hope you enjoyed checking out the music of our town. Let’s do it again next week, shall we?

Song after: What Color Is God? (live Koln)

I was feeling like i had time, so I lined up a few songs. 5 Years, by Bowie, Possession by Sarah McClachlan was in the queue, and sounded great. Guitar and Pen by the Who was queued up too, but I put in Lady Stardust by Bowie. There may have been some other cool songs too…Big Log, Brothers in Arms, Even In The Quietest Moments…
